I'm from Australia, but I intend to rectify that once I've finished my degree and had a chance to properly explore the western world.

Australia.

This place is a hole.
trade ya, Newfoundland is great.

Unless of course you count cultural isolation, wet weather, mild summers and winters, endless fog, and being the underdog of the entire country.

Yep, other than that it's great
Trust me, cold and snow is far more accommodating than relentless, dry heat. At least you can do something with the cold (snow sports, cuddle up to pretty girls/boys/??? etc). The heat here is death, coupled with our incompetent politicians and largely uncaring, stupid majority it also contributes to crippled infrastructure (Melbourne trains don't work on days above 35 degrees C...that's like 20% of the year).

Also, you guys have enough of a market for stuff to not costs insane amounts of money, enough people so that tax isn't obscenely high and possibly a less retarded government (hard to say as I know little about Canadian politics, but I'd be surprised if you hadn't heard of the Australian nanny state). In short, Australia really is a hole.

Australia. It's alright, other than the high prices and Michael Atkinson - although he's stood down, apparently.
The DET here sucks as well.

Dude you live in Melbourne, at least you get some form of Winter. Brisbane on the other hand... You guys may get heat (and occasionally humidity) but it's the humidity that's pure murder not the heat. I love staying in Melbourne, the weather is just what I like but it's too busy down there, every day it seems people are rushing to get somewhere. I like being laid-back :)

He doesn't officially stand down until the next election, yay for another 4 years of waiting -_-

We do get a winter, though it isn't like 3 months during the actual winter, we just occasionally get a few hours of cold before the gods of melbournes weather get bored and change it. At least in brisbane you have water (and I agree, people in melbourne suck, generally the most impolite people I've ever met, especially on the road).

My partner is from Melbourne, Langwarrin actually and he was quite surprised at the amount of drivers who WEREN'T beeping their horns.

We don't get ANY Winter, none, zippo, ZIIIIILCH! Unless you count the evenings when the humidity goes to sleep for a while, then wakes up screaming at 5am with sunlight beaming through every crack. And while we may get water, the rain also contributes to the next days dosage of humidity. Our Winter, is an average day in Melbourne which to the average Victorian is actually hot.

Why are the Aussies all depressed? I think it's the best country in the world.
We don't get real winters (with snow and cold), even in Tasmania our winters are, at worst, equivalent to that of a british spring. Then there's also the whole nanny state censorship thing, I can't imagine that having to many supporters on a site like this.

It's certainly more humid (always) in Brisbane, but the temperature is a lot more consistent. We do get 45 degree+ days down here, and they most certainly are not fun (when I look at the weather Brisbane and the gold coast always seem to be mid to high thirties). The extremities of our weather tend to fuck us, because our glories leaders scarcely bother to plan for the extremes we face annually (train tracks break, expensive tourist attracting Ferris wheels break etc). I actually hate the heat, and more so hate the humid so you are right, Brisbane would be far worse for me but that doesn't mean Melbourne is appropriate or mild by any stretch of the imagination, and if you think that our 'winter' is like what a winter is like, you're wrong (you've surely heard of Melbourne weather? it isn't really unusual to get a 30+ day out of nowhere, though admittedly rarely in the middle of winter).
