I just finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2 and... I LOVED IT!!!
Everything was improved upon from the first game. Combat was awesome, plot was awesome, and the characters were amazing!!! That and the fact that decisions you make before and during the suicide mission decides what happens. I'm already about halfway through my second playthrough and I still cant get enough.

So I just wanted to know what you think. I promise I won't annoy you if you think this game is bad, just tell me your opinion.

The only thing I ask is please only vote or comment if you've played the game. No comments based solely on hype.

Neeed... Mass Effect 3... Must. Save. Galaxy. From. Reapers.

Great story. Good gameplay. Keeps to the essence of Mass Effect whilst slightly tweaking the graphics and remaining inventive. Love it. Now to play it darkside...

I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the lack of melee weapons.

I'm sure its great!

It currently sits on my desk, taunting me because I can't play it because my computer is broken!
You know Furby, there is a cheap easy way to deal with that. Consoles.

Well, this just might be one of my favorite games of all time. It's in competition with Fallout 3 as my favourite game ever. It might just when, noting that Fallout 3 has no Turians, Quarians, Salarians, etc.
Can't be forgetting Krogan and Geth. As of meeting Legion the Geth are clearly the best race. You just don't like them because they use their bodies like rental cars.

I though it was good but not the second coming of Christ like so many people are making it out to be

I love it. I 'm still in the middle of my first playthrough (I'm on Horizon, if that helps), but I love it so far.

One of my favorite games of all time. If they end the series with ME3 like they are supposed too, I'll be severely disappointed. There are some little things wrong, as with all games, but that doesn't eclipse the experience...at all. The game's ending is one of the best I've played in a very, very long time.

Did anyone else notice the little things they threw in? I thought Hahne-Kedar might be a reference to HK-47 (Although this was in ME1 as well), but I don't know for sure. That was the first thing that came to mind. The spam mail from Morlan...god I thought that guy was so funny in the first game. The advertisements, and the video game salesman among other things was awesome.

Edit: To the people who said it was pretty bad, or the worst game they've ever played...I sincerely hope you are joking.

AWESOME is probably the closest one of your descriptors I could give it, AWESOME but not flawless. It's a lot better than "pretty good", but it isn't perfect either.

The best reference ever was probably the Dirty Harry one. Also, Ramen as a delicacy and, yes, the advertisements and the video game seller saying he loved this human game called "Solitaire".

i dont like what they did with the lack of customization . sure the annoying inventory is gone but really only 2 guns per Type through the whole game?

2 pieces of armor?

and the Romance is a complete joke....
mass effect 1 handled the romance much better.

other then these few things i love the game. i completed it twice going for a 3rd as a renegade female Adept .. iam a guy... :D

This may very well be my favorite game ever (Mostly thanks to the amazing story)!
Also, ME2 seemed a lot more... organic compared to ME1 (references, atmosphere, quotes and details are amazing)!

Awesome. I didn't think synthetics could even [i\]do[/i] that with their [i\]bodies[/i]! [/suggestive joke]

On topic, this game was extremely good. The dialog system should become a staple in all RPGs. Although the story gets wonky at times, the loyalty quests were some of the best of any quest i've seen. The characters are endearing, and genuinely likeable, in their own little ways, to me. The combat is just as fun to me as it [i\]wasn't[/i] in the first. It's much better, I think, now.

Although, it isn't without some problems. Lack of customization, according to pheonix, above, isn't a problem. Seeing as Shephards armor can change color and stuff. I think he means: Lack of selection. For an RPG, there aren't very many guns in this game. What? Like, two versions of every weapon? [i\]Lame.[/i] Another problem is how they simplified the skill sets. Sure, it's easier and less confusing to assign skills to characters... but it really shortens their usefulness.

On the romance thing... i'm a fence-sitter. You see, in the first game, I never got into any of the romance options. I thought Ashley was a ***** and Kaidan was flat. Liara? No, not really anything their either. I may have done it with them to get the paramour achievement, but that was all. I felt absolutely [i\]no[/i] attachment to the two humans. (I kind aliked Liara though, she was so shy, and so sweet... and such a sweet shade of blue...)

They handle the romance much better, and broaden your options, in the second game. But it feels so... easy. Although people may have their gripes, I only see it as an overall improvement. You can also romance a couple of the returning characters from ME1-

Tali and Garrus. For male and female Shephard, respectively.

This is great for me, I liked Tali WAY more than the other females. And Garrus was always a bad-ass, and I hear he's good with the ladies too!

It's not like it can get worse from here. There's only room for improvement.

Absolutely loved it. Although I rushed through and got pretty much everyone on my team killed.

I thought it was a good game, don't get me wrong. The Combat was improved. The galaxy was bigger and pretty much every aspect of the game was a step up from ME1's high standards.

BUT: I was gravely disappointed by the ending. Firstly, two of my favorite characters (Thane, and Legion) were killed for arbitrary reasons based on "decisions" that I wasn't even aware I had made; yet characters I couldn't care less for survived - think I might have just un-installed if Garrus had died too. And the actual ending of the plot succumbed to an extreme case of "lolitspart2inatrilogysoletsignorestoryresolution-itus".

ME1 managed to get the balance between completing a story-arc and getting a cliff-hanger ending (Sovereign dead; cliff-hanger = what will humanity etc. do next). ME2 seemed to be all cliff-hanger and no resolution. I want to buy Mass Effect 3 because of its own merits not just because they failed to complete a story-arc in ME2. Maybe I'm wrong but it felt like such an anti-climax (especially in comparison to ME1), and an annoying one too.
