Awesome game, most things like combat, characters, and environments were improved. A few things I didn't really like were having to constantly scan planets for materials, and how they seemed to simplify the customization a bit too much. Other than that though, it was great fun. I can't wait to see ME3. (I also can't wait to see Yahtzee's opinion on the game, he'll most likely either praise it or tear it to shreds.)

I don't really know what to think about it. I love it greatly and it's fun, but I can't help but think that the original is better still.

Granted, RPGs are probably always going to have a bit of grind in them. You've got to admit, though: this is still a huge improvement over trundling sloooowly around palatte-swapped versions of the same three planets while your ride gets hung up on mountains or bounces wildly over every pebble you hit...

Mordin said that it causes only a 1/10 fertility rate so that would make it only 90%~
I guess I misheard what Mordin said. Going to correct my post in a sec, thanks for pointing that out.

True, but it was a bit more interactive to drive around rather than just slowly putting your radar over a planet and press a button every time you find something.

So... both games could improve grinding.
Oh well. Nothing is perfect. :p

I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the lack of melee weapons.

You know Furby, there is a cheap easy way to deal with that. Consoles.
I'm sure buying the game again is cheap. If he only has a PC to game on, I guess it's even cheaper. [/sarcasm]

I'm absolutely loving it, I'm playing as a fucking badass hot Shepard right now but, for the next playthrough, I think I'll import my ME1 character and be all nice and caring.

Honestly, Mass Effect 2 was pretty disappointing. It is by no means bad, just much shallower than it was built up to be. The storyline is pretty short, and it's incredibly predictable right from the introduction of the Collectors (or the trailers if you watched those). Of course there is the huge galaxy to explore, but I'd hazard that 75% of it goes completely unused except for when you need to find more minerals. Almost all of the customization elements are gone (except for the armor colors... weak...) as you do not have to choose to sacrifice any of your squadmates or pick one upgrade over another. There are definitely enough resources to get every single one of the upgrades, so the only real choice is whether you go paragon or renegade, which is pretty lame, as I doubt it has any effect on the game itself. For what was described as a "story-driven game" by all sorts of reviewers, there simply wasn't much story. The combat definitely improved, but honestly I felt that the combat from the first game was good enough for an RPG. Yet, in this game, it feels as if all of the "enhanced combat" (has anything really changed? I haven't noticed...) has replaced the excellent story of the first game. It's OK. On a good day, it's a 7/10 for the pretty graphics, dead protagonist, and... well that's it. You can't even say that the sidequests are numerous and amazing, as there are (from my first playthrough) no more than 30. This game simply feels like a chance for Bioware to introduce all of the characters that will return in Mass Effect 3.

One of my favorite games of all time. If they end the series with ME3 like they are supposed too, I'll be severely disappointed. There are some little things wrong, as with all games, but that doesn't eclipse the experience...at all. The game's ending is one of the best I've played in a very, very long time.

Did anyone else notice the little things they threw in? I thought Hahne-Kedar might be a reference to HK-47 (Although this was in ME1 as well), but I don't know for sure. That was the first thing that came to mind. The spam mail from Morlan...god I thought that guy was so funny in the first game. The advertisements, and the video game salesman among other things was awesome.
The best reference ever was probably the Dirty Harry one. Also, Ramen as a delicacy and, yes, the advertisements and the video game seller saying he loved this human game called "Solitaire".
My Favorite was the whole "Grim Terminus Alliance" games being controversial. I burst out laughing when he said that.

Also, I got ME2 the minute it came out. went home, turned on my Xbox, and I haven't stopped playing it.

I'm just glad they fixed that combat system from the first game. The removal of all that traveling on a planet was a pain in the ass and proably won't be missed.

In other words: It's pretty good so far. I'll need to keep playing before I can decide.

I love it. I t is the only game I have played since I have gotten it. The difficulty curve is well balance, there is intriguing dialogue, even if you are new to ME(like me) the story is easy to understand.

The only complaint I have is that there is no skip button to skip some of the dialogue. I know I said the dialogue is great, but sometimes I just want to get to the shooting aliens in the face part, and most of the dialogue are very lengthy like the beginning cut scene.

ARGH!

It looks good though, and Bioware haven't made a game yet that I didn't like.
Furby my friend, you will not be disappointing, but amazed.

Its AMAZING, Bioware did exactly what they were supposed to, improve on issues and add a lot of new stuff. Bigger Normandy, more romance options, more ways to do missions and a better final level. The only issue is that the story of the first one was a little better than this one.

I've played better games, but I've also played a ton that were worse. If this didn't come out so early in the year it would have been a GOTY candidate (time always screws games and movies out of awards.)

Yeah this is exactly how I feel... only repeated playthroughs will tell if it's a Fallout 3 beater for me.

Either way... it's definately in my top 2 of all time...

Can't be forgetting Krogan and Geth. As of meeting Legion the Geth are clearly the best race. You just don't like them because they use their bodies like rental cars.
As I've said earlier, the Krogan are too much testosterone. It seems the ideal krogan does nothing but kill and hate other races.

Geth are machines that attack Quarians. I find no reason to like them.
You obviously missed out on a part of the story in this, you should go back and replay the part with the Reaper IFF specifically.
