My kids in class first pointed it out to me, and I've liked it ever since. One of the smallest countries in the world, it has an amazingly democratic government. It has no military, only a police force, but I think they only have one boat.
Also, the name comes from an English guy's name.
One day I hope to visit Kiribati, and do some island hopping.
Absolutely this. I have no opinion on the place. And that puts in perspective how lucky I am to live in Australia. I think I'd be kind of bummed out if I lived in a country people didn't even know about, regardless of their misconceptions about it.
Duh. Australia's that country between Switzerland and Germany. Y'know, where Arnold Swarzenegger came from. Discovered when Captain Cook sailed over the Alps in a boat, then the English sent all their convicts there because the only way for the inmates to get back to the British Isles would be through Toblerone-filled Switzerland, and as we all know prisoners have a crippling fear of small triangular shaped chocolate.
