Basically all I want to know is what you all thought about Heavy Rain after playing it.

Me myself think its the best game been made yet and that there should be more games like Heavy Rain which focus greatly on brilliant story telling.

Why I loved Heavy rain:

Gripped me about a quarter the way in
Loved all the characters
Absolutely shocked by who the kller is (I never would of guessed)
Quite a long game
Brilliant story (different)
Great action scenes which makes you feel your there
Love the fact all the characters can die which keeps you focused throughout
The fact there is lots of different endings is awsome.

Loved it-- makes me want to play other games like it. <3 It wasn't perfect, I guess, but I thought it was extremely well done all-around.

Plot holes aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I hope to see more of these types of games come out.

OK. I was a bit disappointed on the second playthrough when I realized that most of my actions didn't make any real difference though.

I loved it how that it could really get you on the edge of your seat, knowing full well that your characters could die. However, I found that there was actually little choice in the game really, and it is possible to completely botch the rescue, which is clearly a bad choice in my opinion, as in every game people would want to get a satisfying conclusion where the good guys win.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite it being glitchy and occasionally poorly animated. A good game, but not one of my games of the year. I would like to see something else like this, but with real choices that matter.

The elemnts that I liked were often neatly countered by things I hated. At it's best it's brilliant and at it's worst it seems broken. The end result is I would call the game "Definately worth playing" but not necessarily a "good game". This is perhaps the first time those two have co-existed in a game for me.

For the most part it was good, but the story was really generic and the voice acting was horrible. The core concept of the game was its saving grace, which is why I'm looking forward to potentially more interactive drama.

I thought it was a good game, but it had a lot of problems. The controls were awful, there were a few visual and audio glitches, and the story got a little far fetched at times.

But I liked it. I'll have to reply it again sometime.

It was brilliant during the 1st playthrough since I let myself get into the story, but when you start to look into the details of the plot it's hilariously badly written and some of the voice acting is horrible.

JASON!

I kid, I thought it was fantastic. I wouldn't say we're quite out of the uncanny valley just yet, but all things considered I think they did a fantastic job.

I found it was a unique gaming experience. Games are often compared with movie, especially when discussing plot and story-telling, but Heavy Rain takes that to a whole new level. It is a true merging of film and gaming, creating a very cinematic experience with the feel of a blockbuster movie and the interactivity of an action game. In some ways this works surprisingly well... in others it falls short of expectations. And it's definitely entertaining.

Heavy Rain is fairly short for a game with limited replay value, but plenty long for a movie. Once you've explored the alternative results for the major choices in each chapter, you won't be playing them over and over for the game-play. In my experience, it takes about 8 to 10 hours to work through the story without reloading and you could get a few more hours out of the game by replaying crucial scenes and going back for trophies. Not huge, but neither was Portal.

I enjoyed it, but I do agree there are plenty of issues with it (plot holes, controls, press X to Jason, etc.) that keep it from being great.

And where did you get that it was a long game? You can beat it in like 7-8 hours, and even playing through different chapters and endings won't take you that much longer. It's definitely worth a rental, but it doesn't provide more than a few days of playtime.

I thought it was a nice innovation, and I (almost) always respect innovation and risk-taking. I don't know why people think that the writing was so great. It was full of generic psychological thriller bits that I've seen in several different movies, and of course plot holes. For a video game, though, I wouldn't say that the writing was bad. Just not fantastic. I really only thought one character was any good. And I hated how the woman, whatever her name was, spent the whole game being exploited (as Yahtzee pointed out). Also, the children in that game just did not act right. I've been around kids, and none of them are that stupid and/or creepy unless they have some sort of mental/developmental disorder.

I also thought that it was yet another game that didn't live up to what it said it was going to be. Somewhat innovative, yes, but once again a game that claimed that every action you made had an effect on the game, but fell well short of that goal.

Still, I was also pulled into the game by how much it makes you identify with the characters. It gave me an adrenaline rush like few other games have. Basically I wish there had been a poll option that was somewhere between OK and fantastic. Maybe "good."

It has some interesting gameplay mechanics, but most of the story was kinda mediocre.

Though, hearing Madison having a fake orgasm cracks me up every time.

I agree, if they made another game like this I think that there should be more choices and they should effect the story more.

I loved it, the gameplay was fun, the story was fantastic, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire game.

I can't really bring myself to do another play-through though, so the lack of replayablity is a bit of a bummer. Still, a fantastic game.
