Money is far too tight for me to just keep games sitting on a shelf. Blockbuster have a deal here where if yu trade in a recent game you can get a brand new one for £14.99 instead of £40. Aha says I, that'll do nicely.

As a result, I'll get a game for £15, Black Ops for example. I'll do what I want to do with it, complete it, get as many achievements as I can, then take it down, trade it in and get Dead Space 2 for £15.

Some games I have kept, mainly because their trade in value isn't worth it now and I know I can get the 1000/1000 score on them when I go back to them. Viking: Battle of Asgaard.

I don't really see the point in collecting things. Movies I rent or wait untill they come on TV for free, Games I work on a constant cycle of trading, Books I borrow. I don't like spending money on something for it to just sit there.

I usually try and play around with other modes and achievements, so after beating a game on normal I might immediately jump back in on the hardest setting it will let me.

Apart from that I leave it until the storyline and mechanics are a little duller in my mind, so that going back to it feels more like getting an old friend back than more of the same :D

Depends on the game. I've played through Resident Evil 5 dozens of times. Some games I just want to get to the end to say I have beat it and never pick it up again.

Edit: Also, to get out of the game a whole playthrough. The game has something to offer, and I often want to see the story to the end. That and achievements.
