In 99% of situations, I don't read them, in the other 1%, I didn't read it for example in the start of a game, tutorials are for that. But it might happen that I pull it out to learn a little more sometimes.

game manuals i always keep in the case.... purely because it doesnt make any sense to throw it out when there is a neat little place in the box for it.. also it may prove usefull in the future...
other manuals, however, that do not have a neat little place i always keep for fear of needing it in the future and put in a safe place... however i then promptly forget where that safe place was...

I'm horrible about reading instruction manuals. I'm made fun of because of it. I can think of more than one time when I complained about dying when someone said something along the lines of, "You know you can duck, right?"
I keep them though. They have a nice little place in the case. Why not keep them?

It just sort of completes the whole game case/package. It would look weird without the manual inside.

I keep it, sometimes I read it but most of the time I don't because I've had that game series so many other times before. I'd never throw out the manual though.
Keep it and read it. That way I know what the buttons are, what things do, etc. Some are better than others. The Oblivion one is useful as it gives you a lot of information about what the different race perks are, and what the different skill levels do.
I keep it, read through it once, neatly file it away with all my over game manuals, and from time to time pull it back out and read it again, provided it has more than just the most perfunctory explanation of the mechanics.

I read the manual on the way home. A game should be capable of turning you from a novice to an expert by itself - after all, if a mate comes over they don't read the instruction manual before they play your games!
Unless the controls arn't explained in-game -- and god knows they usually are -- I don't even touch the manual. Occasionally, if the controls or gameplay are especially nuanced, i.e. final fantasy tactics, I may check back to the manual for greater clarification (though lately GameFAQs is just as good).
When I get a new game, if it has a strange mechanic in the game, or has detailed information about character I will look it over. After that I'll leave it in the case, preserving it.
<color=purple> It depends. If I won't arrive at home for a bit and I'm anxious, I may take a look at it. If I get bored one day and I see one spending it's lonely days in it's case, I might take it out, or if the game is just incredible and i feel that i will be missing out if I don't check it out.

I use to love games that came with long manuals, so I'd have something to read on the way home when I was sittin in the car and wanted to play my new game hah.
Now, the only time I take them out of the box is for something to look at whilst I wait for my game to install and the only reason I'd keep them is for the cd-keys. But I always godamn lose those anyway !
