I refuse to vote because I believe every aspect is important.

Graphics: Humans are fickle creatures who like pretty things but there's nothing wrong with that

Playability: because you have to be able to PLAY the game

Story: I think it's an important part of the overall experience

Replayability: The best games are the games that you will want to play again and again

Multiplayer: ... this one I don't care for but I suppose I would care for it more if I were a social person. Left 4 Dead was an excellent example of multiplayer being used for good as opposed for evil

Music: Music creates atmosphere which helps immerse the player into the game although this is another one that is hit or miss. Of course, if you hit an opponent with a bat and it makes no noise that isn't very fun in my opinion

Fun: Which is why people play games in the FIRST place, I would consider this quite important

Concept: This is the thing that keeps people from making the same game over and over again. I think this is very important ... sadly, other people don't

I feel no game can possibly be good without all of these elements, but I personally will excuse many faults if a game has a good, original, story.

Fun, because a story can be brilliant but no one is going to want to play it if it isn't fun. Although I generally combine gameplay and fun factor, since it's kind of obvious a game should be fun and I think gameplay plays a huge part in that.

Graphics and few artificial boundaries. Prolly graphics though is my main criteria in a game.

Playability. A game can be playable in a number of ways, but if I'm not enjoying the system enough to get immersed in the basic gameplay, I'm not going to get far enough to care about the story before I get annoyed with it. That doesn't mean being easy, or conforming to set mechanics, it just means being inviting enough to the player, and actually achieving what it set out to accomplish.

(Besides which, I'm one of those people who often forgets the story in order to merrily run about my little sandbox world poking everything until it explodes or shoots me).

I have to say replayability, because honestly, if you have a game that you will never get bored of (or just never ends) then its awesome! I guess playability is the true importance, but honestly, if I don't think a game is going to play well, I'm not throwing down 50 bucks at target and rushing home with it. I was afraid of this poll because I predicted a swarm of "let's all crucify graphics because they absolutely don't matter in any way" crazies... the coast is clear for now.

EDIT: I forgot that fun was on the list. If a game isn't fun, I don't understand how you could keep yourself playing it. Poor masochistic bastards...

i really find this very annoying. fun is the most obvious one, so the one i voted for, but i'm pretty sure playability is a little required for games too. those are obviously vital, but right behind that is story. The only things not necessary out of the entire list were graphics and multiplayer. i say graphics is the problems with games today. companies spend an incredible amount of cash to have these games look amazing, but that just reinforces even more the fact that the game has to sell well to make up for it, which is leading to this stagnation and lack of innovation that floods the market.

There's gotta be a combo of all of them, because as most people stated before me, when those all are good, it makes a hell of a good game.

But if I had to sacrifice one for the other, I'd sacrifice graphics for story with no qualms whatsoever. I mean, lots of us go back to the N64/PS1 days because the games are freaking great with story, even though the graphics are shit compared to today

The camera...
Except for that guy who plays Zelda blind, but he's just cool like that.

Voice acting should be considered another essential part. A story can be well written and original but sound like crap if the developer skips out on the voice talent.

World in Conflict was made that much more better just because the characters were so well played allowing the player to identify with them.

I would say they're all important, except multiplayer, I don't give a shit about multiplayer. But if I had to prioritize them, I'd say story first with gameplay (playability) as an extremely close second. Fun shouldn't be an issue, 'cause if you get those others right, the game should automatically be fun.

An interesting storyline with developed, meaningful characters smooths over lots of would-be problems. By itself, the combat of the half life series is (and I say this as an avid fan of the series) not as good as that of Call of Duty 4.

But because the characters are so realistic and fully developed, and because the story is told in such an indirect and immersive way, the slight combat deficiency is invisible.

Without a solid story there's a chance I'll get bored of a game because I honestly don't care why I'm doing whatever the game is telling me to do.

I'd have to say replayability, a game is better if you keep going back to it. Multiplayer isn't always necessary but if its really good it just adds to a game replayability. not to mention if its incredibly replayable then its probably fun.

Fun: If you're not having any, why are you playing it? Story comes in second place.

Graphics & music are both low-hiters for me; if they're good, it's a bonus, if they're not, I can ignore them.
