I find a lot of guys think cheerleaders are sexy but for the most part I find them to be loud, annoying, and often unintelligent people. What's worse is they have the impression that cheer leading is a sport. It is not a sport. It's an activity. If cheer leading is a sport then ping pong is also a sport. Anyway, what do you guys think of cheerleaders?

Edit: Ok, I'm thinking about it and I will concede that ping pong is a sport. I guess a better comparison would be dancing. If cheer leading is a sport then so is dancing.

Gag 'em, strip 'em, and fuck 'em, and they're great! Try to have an intelligent conversation with one (except maybe about the sport they cheer for---some of 'em make great sports bar company, which of course leads to sex later after they've got a few beers in 'em) and you're barking up the wrong tree.

In sum: Fuck 'em, chuck 'em, then go pick up a deceptively hot geek chick [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velma_Dinkley] and live happily ever after.

I don't see them as loud, annoying or often unintelligent any more than I see other any other type of person.

They just like what they do, and I don't find the way they dress very attractive.

Yes, of course it is!

And on topic: Yes, cheerleaders are hot, haven't you ever watched Heroes? ;)

My brother married a cheerleader. Yikes. They are nice to look at, but they are either vapid and clueless or pointlessly arrogant and rude. Every time I meet one of her friends, it proves my point yet again.

Disclaimer: Of course there are exceptions, this is only my experience.

I find Clarie from hereos just whining and annoying now, i wish they kill her off. Oh wait they made that impossible

We dont really have cheerleaders in the UK however if American TVs anything to go by then they're generic popular people. And i tend to dislike these people, so i imagine them singing and shouting wouldnt help the situation

I hate the way they dress, and I agree that they are loud and often... not unintelligent, but rather uncultured.
Also, I agree that it's not a sport. If cheerleading were a sport, then dancing would be a sport as well. I would say it's an activity. Mind you, it's an activity that requires great physical strength and flexibility, as well as coordination amongs many many teammates, as well as a minimal sense of rhythm.

How the Hell is weightlifting not a sport?

And yes, cheerleaders are sexy.
There is no strategy involved. It's just who can lift more. A sport requires both your mind and body. Weightlifting does indeed need physical prowess to do, but no cognitive ability.

Cheerleaders are intended to spread school spirit and present themselves in a one-dimensional positive light. As a result they seem rather unintelligent (and many might be) but consider the role they play. They are supposed to be chipper and over enthusiastic about everything, and avoid anything remotely deep or negative to get you to focus on whatever it is they are generating spirit about.

How attractive they are largely depends on the girl in question and the uniform, but honestly it's just as much about attitude and athleticism as looks. Of course you have to be in good shape to do cheerleading so most of them wind up being fit and attractive.

Cheerleading *IS* a sport, I can sort of agree with that. Though it does depend on the level of cheerleading and how seriously it's taken in a given school/community. It combines Dance, Gymnastics, and a lot of strength and stamina. Doing back flips on a tightrope, or forming a human pyramid is NOT as easy as you might thing. Neither is fast paced choreography.

People have actually been murdered over cheerleading competition, they even made a movie about one paticularly infamous example "The positively true adventures of the texas cheerleader murdering mom" (I believe it was called). Despite the title it did happen.

They also sort of made fun of the idea in an episode of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" where she transferred from her old school where she was a Cheerleader, and at the new school in Sunnydale they took it more seriously and some of the girls had personal coaches and trainers. You might laugh, but there is truth to that.

It might seem simple, but honestly, you shouldn't knock it until you've tried it. Especially at the high end. Cheerleading competitions can also be pretty gruelling.

In my first year at Uni, I thought it would be fun to take up cheerleading, (the crazy flippy kind), and I thought "Hey, I'm in England, i'm sure they won't be bitches like the ones you see on american tv programs." So at the sports sign up event I walked up to them and said "Hi! I'm interested in picking this up this year." and they just laughed, whispered to each other and then said- "We don't like rock music, sorry." (I was wearing a Pantera hoody.) Now, i'm no supermodel but i'm not too shabby, I'm blonde, I like to be chirpy about things, and i'm flexible, so I was pretty gutted. I couldn't believe they were actual sterotypical cheerleaders.
Anyway- Rant over.

I'd lke them a whole lot more if they weren't evil, but I do like Bring It On.
