Well, it seems there's quite a bit of dispute about Crysis 2 on consoles, PC gamers freaking out. Console gamers going "What the hell is Crysis?" I personally think its a great idea, I'm a PC gamer at heart but my 360 is faithfully working away beside my TV. I thought Crysis was great, as also did almost everyone else who played it apparently. But what do you guys think, should it have stayed a PC exclusive? or do you like it the way it is

It's going to inevitably mean that the game is technologically inferior to the first, but I think it's good overall. If the game is on consoles and pc it means more people can play it. Graphics won't be as good as the first but I can live with it. I don't get overly concerned with the graphics, as long as they aren't complete crap, and prefer to just enjoy the gameplay.

Console players will not be able to handle its complexity and will be driven insane. No one but a hardcore PC gamer can fathom the depth of the story and the sophisticated characters.

Seriously though I dont think it really matters what platform it is on. When games like this get brought across to consoles like battlefield was they turn out quite well but they will always be better on PC

Not necessarily. Everything I've seen so far of CryEngine 3 (via GDC, E3 last year, and some Crysis 2 previews) indicates that it'll outperform the first game while using less resources. Not really an impossible feat, since I had the feeling that Crysis one was one badly optimized program.

Crysis was awesome, and Crysis 2 will be awesome. I could not care less what platforms it comes out on, as long as the PC is one of them.

I think it is a good idea to go multi-platform. I hate system exclusives, it just pours gasoline on the already raging console wars.
Although I really like Crysis my computer can't hope of ever running number 2. =(

It means that the franchise will be more accessible to a wider variety of gamers. Battlefield did it, and look how it turned out.

And you know what? Fuck graphics. If I want to see amazing graphics, I'll watch Avatar. Or a tech demo. Graphics in a game means shit if your gameplay is worse than pulling teeth. Fortunately, Crysis 1 did that whole innovate thing when it came to FPS gameplay. That is, modifying EVERYTHING about yourself to deal with a given situation, not just who you shoot first.

I think it kinda defeats the purpose of the game. But then again, I bet they'll sell more this way.

NO FPS SHOULD EVER COME OUT ON CONSOLES EVER BECAUSE THE GAMEPLAY IS DUMBED DOWN AND A WASTE OF TIME FOR PC USERS!

Sometimes caps is necessary.
Looks like someone's mad because they can't go get a job to upgrade their PC or buy a console.

Hehe, that reminds me of that guy who worked on Crysis, who railed on Halo calling it bullshit with a crappy story. I was like "yeah, and Crysis was the War and Peace of the videogame world obviously. Someone isn't very good at critiquing their own work."
Yeah. I remember that story and the one about him calling modern wafare two bad as well. I laughed so hard because he seemed to think his was a masterpiece.

Dont get me wrong I love the game but the storyline is a far cry (no pun intended) from a master piece.

EDIT: forget i said anything hes a different writer lol

With Crysis Crytek shot themselves in the foot, they made a game that maybe 10% of PC gamers could actually play at worthwhile settings from release day. Warhead was muc hbetter in that respect, but the reputation was already established.

They are not going to repeat that mistake again. More power to them for going after as big a market as they can, provided CryEngine 3 is better optimised for less than perfect hardware they ought to have plenty of success.

Provided they don't stupid up the gameplay too much.

I'm strictly a PC gamer, and I think it's a good idea for cross platforming, because I know they can do it. They're an extremely competent games developer, and they're not going to screw it up.
