I am of absolute certainty that Obama is better than Bush was, and better than McCain/Palin would have been. However, I feel like he refuses to stand up for what his party believes in, and is trying too hard to appease everyone. He's a Democrat, but he seems to want to remain neutral on all fronts, which is a great formula for not getting anything done.

In the context out the American Constitution and what we were founded on; Obama is not good for the nation. He is a socialist and preached different things during the campaign to presidency that what he really is doing. He said there would be transparency, well why did you not endorse a bill that would allow of the reading of bills on the internet? Why would you not allow the people who voted for you the chance to see what is being voted for in the "transparent" government of yours Barack? Then he promises the lowering of taxes... so that's why new taxes are introduced like a "green tax" on inefficient vehicles. My point is, he isn't doing what he promised. I didn't vote for him, and I find myself saying "I told you so" to many people.

Most Democrats are doing just that: folding for everyone who has a problem, except for Republicans. And to people who don't want a Republican is office is just ignorant. A real conservative Republican isn't like Bush. He is not a stereotype. Bush tried to make other parties happy, and in the same time fucked a lot of things up. Real Republicans are not very well represented in our government at this time. Whats wrong with lower taxes, smaller government spending, and support of the free market? That's what the real conservative Republican wants.

Also by now, it's not just the Repubs wanting Obama out...

I like Obama, he gives me hope that USA can once again be a nation the resst of the world can look up to.
Bush ruined that for me.

Go Obama, make the USA great again!

Obama's healthcare plan, in my opinion, is a step in the right direction. I'm not too familiar with him, but I'm all for socialized healthcare. I find it sort of weird that americans generally tend to tote about how americans rule, and how americans are great, but aren't willing to spend a dime for eachother. A lot of these radicals also don't seem to realize that when you pay tax, the money doesn't just disappear from your pockets.
"Lower taxes" != "more money for me".

What?! Why? Can't we spread this into a deep conversation about politics if we feel like it?
Do not qvestion ze rules, or ve ville zend you to ze camps.

Serious Response: I guess... This suddenly isn't The Escapist anymore?
Maybe if the Red Guard suddenly became the Gestapo and began cracking down on trolls and useless threads then maybe people would straighten out.

We could use a thinning of the herd.
I wish. Then it would be the Escapist again.

NO! No independent thought in this thread! Plus, you always make threads that make me sad. Like that bottled water/starving kids one. And I never even drank bottled water. Damn you and your social conscience!

OT: Obama? Turning out to be Jimmy Carter 2.0
Viva la vi! (I don't know any french. Wait, here's a better one) There ain't no power like the power of the people 'cause the power of the people won't stop, say what!? (Repeat after 'say what')

Hmm, sweet people power.

Oh no! Socialism! Run! Get the children and the shotgun. Head for the hills where it's safe.

I don't know man, France seems to be doing 'aight. Also, I wouldn't ever imagine him lowering taxes. He's left wing dude. Look up what socialism is about before complaining he's spiking taxes.
The health care is going to shoot taxes up and you know it. Things like this need more money from the people to make it effective. Hopefully, he'll take it the nine yards, make more taxes but shoot up the minimum wage as to get rid of insignificant jobs in society. I don't mind all this seeming as I find capitalism disgusting. I find valuing money over people evil and so, if Obama takes this all the way, I would love America.

When George Bush was asked, "Are we in a recession?" He answered: "Well, you'd have to ask an economist, I think i got a B in econ 101, but I got an A in keeping taxes low."

By January we will have a federal deficit of 10 trillion dollars, partly because of his 12 premature tax cuts.

Idk how I feel about Obama yet, he hasn't done enough for me to have an opinion, but at least he's better than Bush.

I agree that he hasn't had enough time to really do anything. One bad thing is, he got a noble prize for saying stuff. Now that isn't his fault. The committee of the noble prize are just a bunch of crazy individuals.

As for him, I agree with my friend, that he has promised too much and the time line he proposed is not going as well as we all thought. But then, we always get more than we can chew so we will have to be patient and chew very slow.

As for his good sides, he is finally taking on topics that needed to be taken care of. Such as his biggest attack on Health Care. IMO, the health care system we in the US have is a piece of S***. The main reason for this is health care products; such as drugs, MRI's, X-Rays, hospital care, etc are way over priced. Health care in the US is horrible for focusing on if you have insurance. They all say everyone can get insurance, but that is the problem, Insurance is just bad. Insurance makes it so you have to wait, and usually when you have to wait, your body cant wait. So sticking to my point, Health Care is his hardest thing he is fighting against and it is most likely what will make or break President Obama.

I like how people (especially from red states) get on him for messing up the economy when Busch did the economy in with the stupid wars. I think that he is going to need time to fix what Busch broke but I think he will get it fairly well repaired.

Its really too soon to tell if he is any good. Ask again closer to the end of his term. By the way, what exactly did he get the Nobel Prize for, I wasn't aware he had done anything that significant yet.

The world should be worried about Obama.

America's "cowboy diplomacy" has been the only thing holding back the communists all these years.

Do you think it's a coincidence that the Russians are now starting to get a little more ballsy with regard to Eastern European states like Georgia and Poland. Also, the way they seem to be supporting iran and n. Korea. They're looking for trouble.

In a few years, the world will be begging for a George W. Bush like president.

We're talking about the office of the President of the United States of America. The mere fact that he hasn't invaded the UK, tripled the nuclear stockpile, and sanctioned Japan to the point of starvation ought to earn him a prize of some kind.

But honestly, I think it's a sign of the end-times.

He's a decent guy, it seems, but he seems to be focusing way too fucking much on being "that kick ass president everyone loves" rather than "that president that actually gets something done with his time, besides being cool and black."

This goes a lot deeper than a "Do you like me, Y/N?" question, which is why I fucking hate polls on topics like this.

He looks like a top bloke, and I'm liking his recent actions. He's pretty open and giving to the gay community, which is always a plus. Also, he wants to get rid of the all the nukes. Can't see why that wouldn't be a good thing. Plus, free health care...

...gee, yeah. Looks like I love him.

Can't really tell this early in his presidency. He's doing far better than our last president though... *Shudder*
By doubling the national debt in a matter of months, when it took forty-three presidents over two hundred years to build it to five trillion? He's promised a lot of change, and not much change has been felt.

Seriously though, how can a 1 term senator with precious few legislative accomplishments... who became a president with likewise few accomplishments of any kind... win a nobel peace prize?
Agreed. I'm effing pissed that the "3 Cups of Tea" guy didn't win it.

GANDHI NEVER EVEN WON IT, FOR CHRISSAKE!

He can't win; Nixon is already my beloved kick ass president.

Or at least his disembodied head is...
