I don't liek the books much, or the films much, but let's face it, there is only one reason why males over 15 go to see HP films: Emma Watson.
It felt kind of schitzophrenic in that he left the original book and came back to it at different times. It was as if he got cold feet at certain moments and brought in popular scenes from the books to appease the fans at an over all loss of coherencyLibrarian Mike said:I just saw Half Blood Prince last night and I thought it was outstanding. I think one of the problems with most of this series is that the directors have been handcuffed by the demand to slavishly follow the books. With this one, they finally made a movie instead of shooting a book. Also, the performances were outstanding. You can tell the main actors have really worked on their skills in the last couple of years.

That was NEVER in the book and where the heck did the rows and rows of wheat come from DX . It maid NO sense to burn the house down and will mess up the whole book next year unless they just plan on cutting the "bonding" event in the next book. I hated the movie mainly because it was maid not to entertain fans and new comers alike it was maid ONLY to entertain people that have never read the books b4. I hated it but others might not so I thought I would ask
The trouble is that as the books get longer they have to exclude more and more content from the films. They just cant translate 500 pages of novel to a 2 hour film. The first few books were pretty short, so most of the content went into the film. This = better film= happier fans.Cargando said:Film one: Brilliant!
Film two: Wow, freaking amazing!
Film three: Hmm, that's not quite right...
Film four: Where's all the good bits gone?
Film five: God Radcliffe's a shit actor
Film six: I came here to be dissapointed and I got my wish

Exactly, this is a movie, don't expect it to be the same as the book.xmetatr0nx said:Does any movie ever outdo the book? No, is it that hard to just enjoy it for what it is?

I was one of those people, but the last few movies have satisfied my inner critic that I decided "fuck it", and just enjoyed them for what they are. I don't care if it screws up the canon if they make it work. The scenes that I remember them interjecting really added to my enjoyment of this latest movie, and it won't stop me from going to see the next two in years to come.
Rarely, but I have decent hopes for the Percy Jackson movie. I mean, Pierce Brosnan is Chiron. And they're getting Chris Columbus to direct it. I don't think it could get much better than that. Maybe if Uwe Boll writes the script.xmetatr0nx said:Does any movie ever outdo the book? No, is it that hard to just enjoy it for what it is?
Calm down, I'm only kidding.
I agree, which is why I found it difficult to get emotional about the burning down of a house that can easily be fixed with magic.obex said:Listen if Dumbeldor could repair that house at the start then the like 7 of them that were there will have no trouble repairing the house there wizards ok?
