Personally, I like them.
To the point of feeling indebted to one of the reviews, RollForInitiative, who made the review that got me to watch my favourite animé, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
If it wasn't for him, well... there would be less of my favourite animé in my life.
So I quite like them. Good to see if there are any other good animé shows to look out for.

There wasn't an option of 'they're OK, but not enough depth'.
I (OK, occasionally) write anime reviews, but given the forum nature of these reviews, can't be too long. The reviews at Escapist, though, not everything is taken account of, e.g. lack of criticism of voice acting and representation of Victorian England in Black Butler (or Kuroshitsuji as I prefer to call it).
And, to be fair, they usually come a couple years after I've watched, gathered a number of opinions and forgotten about the plot. (It's the snag with only being allowed to officially review licensed anime, like ANN, but what can you do?)

I honestly don't know. Of the six reviews I read, three were for things I hadn't seen, and the three of which I had seen, I disagreed with the review very strongly.
I guess they're probably helpful to people, and at least raise the exposure of certain titles. I don't particularly need them, but other than the one that made my eye twitch, I don't think there's any harm in them.

On topic: I've only read a few and I've pretty much disagreed with them entirely, but other people seem to like them, so different strokes for different folks I guess.
Manga reviews would be interesting to see, though.
I've seen a few and have actually watched a good amount of the ones that they've reviewed. I watched them before I saw the reviews, but they did point out a lot of the things that I liked/disliked. I didn't agree with all of them, but differences of opinion are bound to happen from time to time.
Do more, sometimes I start watching new stuff like(soul eater) after I read a review so just keep them coming.
