Personally, having been literally playing it most of my life, I have a deep love for Runescape. What are your feelings? Being in high school, the only thing that's looked down on more than playing Pokemon is playing Runescape, and some of my friends who still play don't talk about it in school because it's embarassing. What does everyone where you go to school/work/ anywhere think about it?

It was my first MMO (many years ago) and I loved it back then.

But it just feels too old when I play it nowadays (graphic and gameplay wise).

Also: inb4 "runescape suks" - you try making a pretty large mmo in a web browser ;)

Stopped playing it when I was 9. Tried playing it again when I was 11, all I could think was "Man, everyone here is either a 40 year old paedophile, a 40 year old who still plays runescape or a little kid who thinks he's awesome because he got mithril armour."

I used to play it... got really high leveled too!

...and then my account got hacked...

...and I rage-quit...

I have friends that play it, and I probably could go back to it, but I still get mad when I think about all those wasted hours...

I'll stick with Pokemon...

it was a good starting point. but after so long you have done all the non-stupid quests and just mine.

now im addicted to eve online

A Tengu advance cruiser (most expensive ship i have)

A drake battle crusier which is possiably the most used ship in eve

a rokh battle ship (which you cant stop)

I played it for ten minutes, every one of them lost.

All I did was take the tutorial and wander around clueless with people calling me a "n00b". Eventually I just attacked a random person, got killed, and called it done.

They got rid of the wilderness. They put price caps on items.

God I'm glad I left for WoW all those years ago.

Actually, they put the wilderness back and got rid of trade caps this month.

I play it every so often. The quests are mostly fun, but unless I spend mindless days fishing, mining or woodcutting to earn tons of money to get equipment strong enough to compete with the higher-ups in PvP, I thought it best to avoid it.

I used to play it. It was good for what it was, and quests were more complex than your average mmo fetch/kill quest. Even had a little following on there and led my clan to victory in a 9-way free for all tournament.

The devs killed it for me when they removed free trade and the wilderness though. I saw the vote going on but I wont bother with it now.

I played it for maybe six months... okay around a year. Not that great, but a good first MMO. The quests were unique for being varied, complex, fun and humorous; but the game was grind-TASTIC.

Interestingly enough, what made me quit WASN'T the Wilderness and free trade, but it was the stick JaGEx had up their ass. Censorship and rules were HORRIBLE, mods wrathed you for swearing (hard to do when you can't swear with seeing ****'s), insulting, speaking of politics, speaking of suicide, speaking of religion.

However, after I quit I was in the forums for a while. Huge forums, mind you. BUT, you had to pay to post on them, which is total :(

I will do anything BUT pay the money to see if the friends I made are still there.

Hey, did they remove it's annoying censor?

I remember playing Runescape back in the day, good times.

I think some games could learn a thing or two from it, but I'm over it, it was good while it lasted, but I played for ages and got what I could. I'm done, I've moved on.

I had a huge beef with Runescape when the kid in my house practically ruined one of the PCs in the house with it. It took 50$ for a new hard drive and about 3 weeks trying to scrap and reflash the bios before it could be used again.

The kid was quite upset at not being able to play, which in turn caused me to illustrate what real MMOs were in introducing him to Everquest and WoW.

Beyond all the problems people can allow themselves to be duped into, its an average game by 2005 standards... today its just unbelivably outdated. (and yes there are several purely browser ran MMOs that incorp fully 3d and large environments, so saying "its a great MMO for it being ran in a browser" doesnt fly with me personally.

I loved it when I was young. I've logged in a few times over the years just to see how things have changed, but I've long since moved on.

Yes, they removed some censors. The forums aren't exactly the nest place for serious discussion, seeing as the target audience is twelve. But what you say in game isn't as restricted anymore, and you need a certain total level (I think it's like 500) to use the forums as a non-member.

I still play and enjoy it. It seems silly to me, to change what I like doing or stop doing what I like doing just because other people say I'm too old for it or whatever. Graphics aren't a big deal to me, either. I think as far as MMOs go, I haven't played enough for RS to feel outdated or something like that.
