Poll: What do you think of the Pope?

The pope is infallible according to Catholic traditions. Hence it really doesn't matter how anachronistic, homophobic, or hypocritical he is.

Only in dogmatical announcements. And the religon is based on objective morals, so according to Christianity, modern society has it wrong and its not any personal fault of his. I don't mind the pope that much, he's a much cleverer man than a lot of people give him credit for, although he doesn't have John Paul II's charm. And I don't see why him promoting abstinence and fidelity instead of contraception provokes such outrage. Most of the issues I have with the religon don't extend to him, despite his position as the figurehead.

I think he's a huge hypocrite. When he took Easter mass a few days ago, he said that we shouldn't care about things like "Materialism". This came from the man sitting on a giant golden throne, on a balcony overlooking thousands of screaming people and lives in a huge marble palace. Recently, he went to Africa, and told the people that if you wear a condom you have a bigger chance of catching and STD. Is he real?

But what do you think? Is he God's gift to the people, or do you think he's rubbish like I do?

Maybe you could point out at what point I stated that homophobia is exclusive to Catholic cristianity?
I dont need a religion to tell me what is right or wrong, and frankly I have no problem with two gay consenting adults expressing their love, even physically.

What i dont understand is why he is still allowed to be in a position of power over so many brainwashed christians...someone should assassinate him and help make the world a better place, that way we could actually combat AIDS and not let it spread because it is "The will of God".

Seems like Christianity is spiraling downward. I find more comfort in the beliefs of my Native American ancestors than Christianity. And to think I'm getting Confirmed in 4 months. I'm going straight to Hell.

Confirmation is just a ceremony like Baptism and Communion. I was Confirmed and I never believed in Christianity.

Edit: If you don't believe in the religion then why are you getting Confirmed?
