With the popularity of World of Warcraft, I get the feeling they will go in a similar direction with either Starcraft or the Diablo franchise (after a Starcraft 2 expansion I'm sure)

I'd rather not have to wait another 5+ years for a Diablo game, and I never played WoW... so I hope their next game is Diablo 3.

Although, I can't imagine where they would go with the story or the gameplay, especially after most of the original team is gone.

Let's break this down.

The Diablo team has been scattered to the winds, and given how bad Diablo 2 was compared to the first, I don't imagine the team that's there would be able to re-create that secret sauce anyway. So there goes Diablo 3 and MMO Diablo.

I can't really see Blizzard doing well with a StarCraft MMO, as much as I'd like to see one. Given how derivative WoW is, WoS would likely be very similar, only with three factions and Ghosts taking the place of Rogues. In other words: blech.

And Warcraft 3 was as bad as Warcraft 2 was good. I weep for that franchise's future.

And we're left at new IP. I'd like to see if they have another one in them.

I voted MMO StarCraft, because I love StarCraft, plus I'd like to see what they do with it.

How would you give quests to a Zerg though?

Quest-Giver: "Please, help kill 5 of the-"
Zerg: "GRLLRLGRAWGWLGWLLWRA" *Kills and eats quest giver"

I don't really want Starcraft 2 so I can't say I really want anything out of Blizzard. If anything they need something new because I can't see Warcraft 4 being any good and I've never played Diablo. Also, I don't think Blizzard is going to want to compete with itself by creating another MMO in the Starcraft universe until (or if) WoW becomes less populated plus MMO Starcraft would probably suck all the magic right out of the Starcraft universe.

Give me something new that isn't set during World War II, doesn't involve Orcs, and has nothing that even remotely resembles the Zerg. Maybe they could jump into the FPS genre but I think Blizzard has shown is deep level of failure when trying to create an FPS. The only sequel to Starcraft I ever really wanted was something like Giants: Citizen Kabuto where you go through a storyline as Terran, Zerg and Protoss but instead I got SC2 so I've given up on that dream.

Well, of course, this thread is generally for people who enjoy Blizzard's games. I am personally not a fan of the Warcraft franchise, so that would be my last choice.

A new Diablo game is iffy because the majority of the team is gone. HOWEVER, Blizzard still has Chris Metzen, who is essentially the brains for the stories and concepts. They would just need to figure out the game play aspects.

Personally, I don't think losing the Diablo team was all that bad.. have you played Hellgate? It's not terribly impressive, and I think would have been a huge disappointment had it been Diablo 3.

I'm not a fan of MMO's... I think it is unlikely that Blizzard will start a new IP, and I don't want another Warcraft, so, that's leaves me with hopes for a Diablo 3.

I agree. The best thing about Diablo 2 was the movies in between acts. I think those actually held up to the Diablo-standard, but the gameplay in between is just ridiculous ^^ Oh no! A low wall! I suppose I can't go that way... : P Apart from the incredibly cheesiness of every class (if you read their descriptions it basically says they are pretty much gods) and their spells. And, not to forget, the cheesiness of the humor. "I'm gonna party like it's 999!"

Ugh ~~

My personal opinion is that MMOs in the style of WoW are incredibly boring, but I understand that a lot of people like playing them. I also think most people aren't really interested in switching to WoS (if it was made), so if it was made it would have to be something completely different. Like what they wanted to do with Starcraft:Ghost. A sort of Renegadeish game. That I think people could get behind though (me included, as long as it came to PC).

Considering what a big fan I am of Wc3 I guess some flaming should be in order, but that doesn't really help for anything. Wc3 is a completely different experience from SC and WC2, and it really needs some getting used to. They've actually managed to make each race play completely differently and yet be close to 100% balanced. And a new patch is coming soon, so maybe that will fix the final problems ^^
The music and campaign sucks though. If there's something I'd like for wc4 (if there ever is one) it's a rollback to the wc2 style of music (and a more war effort-style campaign).

I think Blizzard NEEDS a new IP. If they don't think something up their future products will suffer from stagnation.

as much as I would LOVE an SC MMORPG, I fear it would destroy the SC universe as much as WoW has done to the WarCraft universe.

I do wish though that instead of progressing the WarCraft universe through WoW that they release a 'proper' Warcraft game, which you could parallel in WoW, to progress the storyline further.

a Sc MMORPG would be amazingly fun, the problem is, some thing from yahtzee's tabula rasa review, the shooter aspects which would transition into an rpg just wouldnt mix, and they still need to fix WoW before deciding to make something else into it. You dont decide to make a raspberry frosting cake after the lemon frosting cake isnt a good texture. You fix one then add.
Wow just didnt let us all soak up goodness before the BC....sigh

Blizzard is going to add expansions to WoW with an extra 10 levels and new areas until you can be level 100, apparently.

I'd then quite like to see WoW 2. Get rid of all the bad bits of WoW, such as the way skills work (I really much prefer the Guild Wars skill thing of earning more skills through questing, but still a limit as to how many you can have at one time). Progress the plot on from WoW several years. Add a third faction, such as 'neutral'.

Don't see it as likely, though. WC4 is more likely. I'd quite like that too, though, to be honest.

I just imagined playing draenei as a complete race in WC3. It sounds quite cool.

A Starcraft MMO? Why dont you put a fucking bullet through my head and cut out the middle man?

The ONLY thing i want after SC2 is Diablo 3. Warcraft series is blegh, only WC3 was good.

I want Starcraft Ghost. That game had some good potential to be a cool game with good use of Starcraft elements, as opposed to some shit game that relies on name alone to sell.

I want a public apology for their blatant rip-offs of Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy & 40K gameworlds...

... and a new IP...

YES! +1.

I would like them to stop milking the WoW cow and make some original and good games.

Don't get me wrong: I like playing Blizzard games. The gameplay is ALWAYS good, and the product is always very polished and complete. Its just that since playing Dawn of War and being exposed to the Warhammer tabletop games, the 'Craft worlds just seem like pale, inferior imitations and I have trouble enjoying them anymore. Not to mention Blizzard has made obscene amounts of money off of other peoples work...

I played Dawn of War before I played starcraft and I must admit starcraft is a better game has far as balance and game play goes. But it is just a rip off of 40k and other popular sci-fi movies/games
