I don't think Blizzard would release a Starcraft MMO and chisel away at their own WoW empire.
Naaa just have a 'rewards' program:

"Sign up to both games and get a even higher tier of items for both games."

That would be EVIL. But would increase revenue even more...

How about a Starcraft MMOFPS? I could see myself playing a Planetside-esque Starcraft game with Terrans, Zerg and Protoss duking it out over a planet. I don't think it would even be that difficult to adapt the game toward that kind of game because all the units have already been designed leaving some room for an innovative customization system (seriously, how would you customize a Hydralisk?).

This is just an idea, however, and I really don't know if I'd actually play it if they released it. My biggest hope is for a third person adventure like Giants or an FPS like AVP where you play as each group.

I want something new. A new IP, a new story, new characters... something with that Blizzard level of fun and quality, that's completely unexpected and blindsides me and smacks me upside the head with its awesomeness.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a fangirl. And we'll probably just see more elaborations on Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo. And they will be good. They will be fun, and shiny, and wonderful. But they'll still be Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo, won't they? Blizzard makes hamburgers, pizza, and tacos. And boy-howdy, those burgers are moist and delicious and the pizza isn't too greasy and the tacos are just as spicy as I like. But they're not going to make me some revolutionary sushi anytime soon. Gotta go somewhere else for that.

Less we forget they do own the property to the lost vikings, Diablo and the crafts aside I liked both the lost vikings one and two and its been awhile (some early NES days if I remember correctly).

Hey, cyberpunk, that's a great idea ^^

I always wanted a highly advanced GITS-game. Maybe Blizzard could make that ^^

bla bla bla...Not to mention Blizzard has made obscene amounts of money off of other peoples work...
bla bla bla. But it is just a rip off of 40k and other popular sci-fi movies/games
WTF are you 2 talking about?!

An MMO Starcraft?Don't think so.It would bring the end of the SC universe.Like WoW brought the end of the Warcraft universe. So another RTS Warcraft is out of the question.Right now there are 10 million people playing WoW.By the time they're finished with the next add on there are probably going to be twice as many. The main idea is that they wouldn't spoil this just for us die hard fans. They would rather turn the universe into shit by having 10 million bastards killing every main character in the story.
I truly believe they intend to milk SC some other way.

So Warcraft4, SC mmo are out.And diablo 3 as well. The team that worked on the first and the second ran away from blizzard.

So that leaves us with a completely new game...OH FFS lets face it, they're not capable of that.So my best guess is they are gonna give another shot at starcraft ghost. But then again
that won't keep people playing for very long.
so who the fuck knows.

Also, I don't think Blizzard is going to want to compete with itself by creating another MMO in the Starcraft universe until (or if) WoW becomes less populated plus MMO Starcraft would probably suck all the magic right out of the Starcraft universe.
It would be Star Wars Galaxies with 33% more ugly orange unintelligent animals.

New licence would be the best thing... but as has been said that seems extremely unlikely. They'll probably do that Warcraft movie idea that's been floating around lately.

Warcraft 4 would be the 2nd most enticing to me of those options since I loved WC3 and it's expansion. Not an MMO, but an RTS perhaps taking a few hints from Dawn of War in regards to resource management and tactics. Yeah, so maybe WoW has bankrupted the current lore (see above posts). The solution: make it a prequel story set during the 1st coming of the Burning Legion.

Diablo - as has been stated, unlikely due to the fact that most of the team has moved on. Regardless, it could be compelling to have new blood in on the franchise

Any MMO - unlikely. WoW is the most popular MMORPG out there to date. Despite claims it's 'dumbed down' the genre (which as a previous EQ player and current WoW player I can somewhat agree with), it's still the hottest property of it's kind out there and I don't see Blizzard diluting their fan base by positioning an even *more* popular franchise in direct competition. UNLESS.. they go the route of Verant and offer a moderately more expensive "All-in-One Pass" that allows players to participate in both games. That would bring in much more market share, but you'd still have the players who'd migrate form WoW to WoS w/o getting this pass and hence a less impressive revenue return.

Warcraft 4 - Since WoW is expanding on the mythos, it's unlikely they confuse things by introducing another storytelling device. Plus, it's unlikely Blizzard willl follow one RTS title with another one, especially one that will compete with the previous one. This follows the same rationale as the WoW vs WoS example above.

New IP - Most likely. With the release of SC2 and the continued monopoly WoW is offering them, Blizzard is doing well financially and might feel compelled to expand upon their intellectual territory, as opposed to mining into already amply prospected genres. I'd still be personally intriqued with a Battlefield 1941-esque rendition of Starcraft, but I think they would be better served letting their current franchises alone and going into a different direction.

"I'm hoping for diablo 3, I liked diablo 1, 2, and diablo 2 exp, and mythos is like drinking RC cola, yeah the thirst is quenched but its not the same."

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I think it's the fact that there's no main storyline. It's too much like an mmorpg, because of the simple fact that it IS one. There are many quests, yes. But you don't really get into them as much as the main one in diablo 2, and if you do get into one, it's over in another 2 quests. Graphics are nice though.

Warcraft 4 is a no-go, thanks to Burning Crusade most WoW lore characters are dead, and they can't milk them for fear of losing characters in WOTLK or other expansions. Starcraft MMO is kind of history repeating itself, and Diablo 3 would be nice but we all know Blizzard hates not pandering to the common player.

So a new IP, however unlikely, is probably their best chance.

As suggested, a Starcraft MMO ala Planetside would probably work. Or maybe BF1942.

It's my gamer's dream to pilot a Goliath. I would buy that game in a heartbeat.

ARE YOU READING THIS, BLIZZARD?

I don't approve of flaming, but I will say that I find the phrase (such as it is) "DUR DUR" funny. I also really like when thick people in books laugh and it's spelled out either "HUR HUR HUR" or "HAR HAR HAR".

Man... I need to get out more.
