I want Bethesda to make the game world and gameplay, and I want Obsidian to make the quests, and write the story, characters, and setting.

Seriously, wouldn't that be awesome?

The one thing I hope never gets back is the "go anywhere at level one" mentality. I don't get all the complaining about the deathclaws in NV. If you can just go anywhere the world feels very unreal to me. You SHOULD worry about going into areas with scary critters, not just go, "Ah well, I'm only level 3 so the ghouls will all be weak".

The one I would like the most is better art direction. I noticed it's not up there; I am very disappointed in you. Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are both great, but they look like shit with all that boring brown and grey.

More RPG, less shooter, I say. Make skill affect firearm accuracy, not firearm damage. I hated the fact that, with base guns skill, I was able to pick up a sniper rifle and pick a target off at near max range with a clean headshot, first try. That simply should not be.
It does.

The problem in that case is how it handles it as a percentile multiplier. So a gun with a tiny base drift (sniper rifle) and a crappy gun skill will still be relatively accurate.

Pick up an SMG and try to hit anything further than a few meters away with different gun skills and you'll see the difference.

It's weird, because I'm playing a shotgun character right now and paradoxically accuracy is absolutely integral (far more so than with a sniper build) because it affects the spread of the pellets. You'd think a shotgun would be easier to aim, but the game treats it like an automatic weapon which just happens to fire all its bullets at once.

(Incidentally, shotguns are hilarious. Technically kind of rubbish next to sniper rifles, but 'And Stay Back' with ragdoll physics makes for endless fun.)

OT. I'd like to see another urban setting. Maybe somewhere like New York or back in the LA Boneyard.

I'd love for it to be set where Van Buren was supposed to be set: Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, AND Utah. There were so many interesting areas and locations listed like Dog Town, Boulder Dome, the Nursery, Tibbets Prison, the Grand Canyon, Vault 29, the Reservation, Bloomfield Space Center, the list goes on. That probably won't happen, but it would be amazing if it did happen. As for Fallout being set in another country, I think that would kind of ruin the theme of the game. Fallout is based around the American 1950's what with the fear of communism and nuclear war. It has that retro 50's feel to it. If it was set somewhere else, it would lose that. Plus most of the world really isn't as intact as the US. Canada is gone. Before the bombs dropped it was a gigantic, country sized war-zone. When the bombs dropped, what was left of it was annihilated. The same goes for China and all of the Asian nations they controlled. America sent Power Armored divisions over there and completely fucked the hell out of everything. Then the bombs dropped and wiped out what was left. Europe would technically be as intact as the US is(as in the area wasn't a complete hellhole before the bombs dropped), but not much is know about it other than the Resource Wars and it's major toll on Europe.

A definite overhaul:

1. A new engine
2. Better enemies
3. A more exciting world to explore (and I don't want to hear about the "It's Post-Acopalyptic, what did you expect" excuse)
4. NPCs that have more personality, with more body language and emotions

I'd say it should be set somewhere other than the US. Russia maybe Britian?

And also the strippers in Fallout should actually strip...just sayin'

The problem with Europe is that the 1950s didn't really happen here. In the US it was an exciting period of leisure and technological advancement and gave rise to a very particular aesthetic. In Europe, everyone was still recovering economically from the war. Putting a 1950s themed aesthetic into a European setting would just look like an anachronism.

If they were to do it seriously, though, it could be interesting. I imagine a much more wartime 1940s industrial aesthetic.. everything older looking and dirtier (even more so for being post apocalyptic).

I liked the companions in NV, but whether a game should have them depends on the mood of the game and what kind of character you're playing. In Fallout 3, any companion other than Dogmeat didn't make sense with my character. But, yeah, more companions and related storylines and interactions would be a great thing and a neat throwback to the likes of Fallout 2.

Honestly, I'd really like it if it were more like Point Lookout and set in the Deep South. The really mutated world was immensely interesting and it would be nice to get that kind of creative and more varied environment. The infinite loop of sand dunes and desert gets tiresome. I know, I know, it's supposed to feed in to the atmosphere of oppression and desolation and loneliness, but I honestly think a truly alien looking place that's different from the look of previous games could work just as well.

For Bethesda to have nothing to do with it.
LOL? why?
1. They screwed up the lore once, I don't want that again.
2. They can't make a solid game, ever.
3. The main quests in their games are almost always bad.
4. They seem to have hired new, bad writers.
5. They don't know how to use celebrity voice actors.
6. Pete Hines.
7. Their game salways have really bad moral choice, or even choice at all. You're always the good guy fighting evil baby eaters.
8. Mothership Zeta.
Heh, my TES fangirlism is making it hard to not get mad at you.
Since I love TES, I am the opposite and want it even Bethesda-ier.
1.Cant say. Never played the first two.
2.Obviously I disagree.
3.Im guessing the almost is Morrowind...since I did not like Oblivion's main story really
4.Disagree. Though their best writing was always in the TES skill books
5.I can understand
6.Disagree
7.I prefer grey area. TES does not have morallity is measured form, so its not an issue there, but I can understand it in terms of FO.
8. Cant say, never played MZ.

Less bugs and glitches. I bought the game 7 months ago and I just started playing it again because I got tired of freezing and quit playing. It's the first serious RPG I've ever really played, much more serious than Borderlands, so I'd have to say, from a newbie perspective, a bit of a better teaching system. I still don't fully understand how to mod guns or use a workbench. And a better organized inventory!

What do I want in the next Fallout installment? A button that allows me to simultaneously smack every Interplay fanboy over the head at once when they complain about it. *puts up flameshield*

Seriously, none of them are perfect. Not even the originals, and for the record I've liked EVERY Fallout game I've played (with the exception of BoS and Tactics). Honestly, who cares about developed it? There were certain things in 1 and 2 that I liked and things in 3 and New Vegas that I've liked. Conversely, there were things in both the Interplay and Bethesda games that I've hated.

I'm not going to hate another game in a series simply because it was developed or published by a different studio. I'll play it before I do that.

Though, to stick with the topic, I'd like to see motorcycle mounts like I've seen in some New Vegas mods. That'd be pretty sweet...
Can anyone post some links? I seriously can't find them on NV nexus :O

I don't think anyone makes games quite as huge and varied as Bethesda.
Thats just my opinion though :)
Ps: SKYRIM OMG HELL YESS ARRRRGGG

And I do think that Fallout should move location, the war was between America and China, why don't we take a little journey to see how China fared? How many post apocalyptic things have you guys seen not set in a western country, it would be interesting :)
Admittedly sales would drop like an anvil, and that classic fallout setting would be gone. But theres so much room for something totally new and unique...
*sigh* I love my little fantasy world :)

lets not go there shall we? personally I think they did an admiral job the ONLY thing they did wrong was simplify the conflict to black and white

I'm still waiting for that damned DLC to know where my Courier's from.

I want it less glitchy. Better story. More cool weapons.
I think I may want the one in Europe or Canada seeing as we have no idea how they survived. Hardcore should definitely be more hardcore. So I guess all of the above in the poll. And make it more like the first two.

Oh and if you want more perks and traits there are so many mods I could direct you to. I am currently nursing a Deathclaw. So cute. Named him Fuzzles.
Yeah I have a feeling DLC might adress that kinda (with all this ulessys madness)

thats the one thing fallout 3 did brilliantly, gave my charachter a back story..a connection with the world made things a million times more emotional
