There's no shortage of games out there that lack innovation or are just tired re-hashes of previous iterations. Some are quite obviously cash grabs by the developers and publishers, others are just victims of ineffective development cycles.
So which genre/style of video game has taken it too far:
Is it the sci-fi or fantasy RPG with the same old, boring lore and story (ex. elves & dwarves; good vs evil, end of the world plot line)?
How about the modern day FPS that looks and plays like its 20 predecessors?
Maybe it's the sports series churning out annual versions that do little to innovate the genre?
Perhaps the sub-par game whose only purpose is to market that platform's motion sensor capabilities?
Or is it something else entirely?
Before you decide to potentially post a "if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to buy it" response, this is a purely subjective thread. You know what they say about opinions and assholes...
