So I recently finished Just Cause 3 and now I have a whole stack of other games to play, and I'm not sure which one I should tackle next.

I'm kind of debating going with Dark Souls 3...though to be honest, I've never played a Dark Souls game before. But it seems like it would be nice, and I'm in for a change of pace after the mayhem of JC3.

The other top contenders right now are DOOM and Dishonored 2, both of which I was about 1/3rd of the way through when I got distracted and stopped. The overall list though is;

Dark Souls 3
Dishonored 2
DOOM
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
LOTOR: Shadows of Mordor (The first one)
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Ghost Recon: Wildlands
The Division

Really? Dark Souls 3 as your start? That is probably the worst to start with really. From what I have seen, they just ripped half the game from Dark Souls 1.

I'd reccomend starting with the Dark Souls 1 instead for your first Souls game. Or Bloodborne if you have a PS4.

But...of your list I say Shadow of Mordor. That game is just fun.

Go with DOOM, it's pretty short (Atleast compared to the rest of the games on the list) but very sweet.

Shadow of Mordor is fun but if you're feeling a little burnt out of the sandbox game go with DOOM or Dishonored 2.

I think Dark Souls 3 is actually a great starting point to get into the series. The previous games could get kind of archaic and cumbersome but with DkS3(and the engine and influence of Bloodborne no doubt) everthing has been streamlined to perfection making the entire game butter smooth to play(from the upgrade systems to the gameplay itself).

My second favorite on your list would probably be FF15. I had some preconceptions about this roadtrip with the backstreet boys but it's actually a really charming cast and the game itself is really fun, striking a nice balance between old and modernized Final Fantasy and mixing the open world of contemporary games with the more linear structure of past FFs. You can tell a lot of work went into this game. I also enjoyed the story though it's probably best to watch Kingslaive and Brotherhood beforehand.

Dishonered 2 is also great(espescially the painterly aesthetic and superb level design) but stealth games become a bit boring for me after a while. Mankind Divided is still a good game but kind of a step back from Human Revolution b/c of it's one-note story that gets cut short just when it gets interesting(and it doesn't look like we'll get a new game anytime soon). Doom is also good if you want some superb yet mindless shooting action. Shadow of Mordor is fun and has interesting enemy dynamics that your actions can influence but ultimately it is just another game that relies on repeating the Arkham combat ad nauseum.

Like I said though my favorites on your list are definitely Dark Souls 3 and FF15. :p

Dishonoured 2 or Mankind Divided. I would say others are just as valid, but you made me choose. And i hate choosing.

OP, why wouldn't you instead just trust your own inkling and judgment? Because really, only you will truly know best, right? You just finished Just Cause 3 after all, so I'm only throwing it out there, just because...

If you every do Dark Souls, looking up some walkthroughs. Dark Souls 1 systems are pretty inscrutable. There are stats that are literally useless and there are no respecs

There are many ease of use changes which means I'd probably suggest DS3.

What does LOTOR stand for? Wikipedia shows that the title is Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor, and LOTOR can't stand for Lord Of The (O____??) Rings.

Perhaps because O looks like a ring...

Maybe it stands for the One Ring(s)

That ring looks orange so maybe Lord of the Orange Ring

DOOM, because holy shit is it good.

But do note; play it on a difficulty that's difficult for you. Make sure it's tough. The game thrives for 80% on its gameplay loop, and if you don't have those ass-clenching "Oh shit I have 20HP and there's still 2 Hell Knights gunning for my ass" moments it'll be a really boring affair. It's not a game you want to cruise through, it needs to challenge you.

If you're cool with that it's so rewarding. But you need to like challenge, and you definitely need to love straight-forward balls-to-the-walls FPS action.

this sounds like you're subtly trying to tell him to play Splatoon instead. :3
