this mostly depends on the character creator of the game for me. since i like to spend hours making a char. in the end i use the one i like more. it also depends a lot on the voice acting too. case in point Mass Effect games. the male voice actor was just ear bleeding atrocious, while the female was a pure bag of awesome. also im a sucker for lesbian sex scenes.

Which game gives me the best exploit by gender?

Black Widow was so much more useful in Fallout 3 than Lady Killer.

I'm a guy that generally plays as male characters. It just helps me feel like I am th character I am controlling. I relate more and can have them do the things I would do. Hey, If I'm going to get in a romance with a character, its going to be the female characters. It would be odd hitting on the men.

At least on the first play-through. I may go female on a later play through. Just depends on my mood and what I want to get out of it. Sometimes I think it would be interesting to see how things might play out and how the different characters treat you.

As a wise woman once told me; if I'm going to be staring at someone for 30+ hours, it might as well be an attractive member of the opposite sex (or same sex, for those who swing that way).
And that would be one of my reasons to play a female every so often. Its just nice to look at something with curves.

I Prefer playing female characters on them, but I always play Male Dwarves and Female elves just out of personal preference.

^This. But only because I don't "roleplay" at all. I generally don't picture myself as an attractive young female elf in skimpy clothing.

Even though I almost never place myself into the character I'm playing, I usually play female because it makes it easier to relate to the character. Plus, most protagonists in games are male anyway, I prefer a female perspective. *shrug*

As said a few times in this thread (although a bit different): If I'm going to stare at an arse for the most of a game, let it be an attractive woman's arse.

Except from that, I'm kind of a bad RP'er, as I will do in-game, what I think would be best in real life. So being a woman in a game won't change my decisions in said game, so much...

I'm male, got me 3 Shepards and a FemShep, got 2 Hawkes and 2 FemHawkes.

Changing gender in a game doesn't really change anything, it opens up a few new love interests (sometimes in BioWare games) but other than that....it changes nothing.

If there are differences available for the different genders/paths (eg. romances, story/dialogue choices, etc) then I usually do both over 2 playthrus. For DA2 I played snarky female rogue first time then heroic male mage the second. Got to see and hear and try a lot more. If it makes no difference whatsoever (eg. Oblivion, FO3, etc) it varies by mood, game, etc. Just started a new VTM Bloodlines playthru as female malkavian.
