Old school FPS. Like what DNF was supposed to be. And Prey 1 is.

Also open world games that actually have something to do beside finding hidden items.

Scifi flight sims, preferably with a Newtonian physics engine rather than WW2 dogfighting physics. So, more I-War than Wing Commander, although that's good too.

Of the genres that devs are actually still making, though, I'd go with RPGs. Especially RPGs that don't have an "awesome button".

[sub]Yeah, I'm not letting go of that any time soon.[/sub]

I think I'm gonna have to say music games. From Amplitude to Rhythm Heaven to Guitar Hero 2 to Elite Beat Agents to DJ Hero 2, some of the most enjoyable games I've ever played have been in that category. There's always innovation around every corner, and there's always something new to try.

Yeah, the peripherals required for so many games kinda sucks, but when the game will probably last you longer than any other game you buy that year, who cares?

I love a good story in my games, so that's why I'm sort of drawn to RPGs. I also like action games like Arkham Asylum or inFamous as long as the story and the gameplay are good enough to keep me interested.

Going to have to say RPG elements with action/adventure elements.

Zelda, recent Castlevania, Tales series.

Fun to ply instead of "hit button and execute" like FF 13. Contains depth, you choice of how to proceed, and lets you pick how strong or hardcore you want to be.

RPG's and FPS's, they're my forte. FPS's especially, ever since goldeneye 64 every one I've picked up I was able to get really good at, barring overused or cheap tactics, which I'm proud of.

Honorable mention goes to RTS, but sadly, I've never been good at those and am thus confined to single player and bot matches.

This, but I'm more into JRPGs than WRPGs. I grew up on Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, so that is probably why.

Also, I prefer the old-school style FPS, as I like health counters and original weapons that you can carry more than 2 of.

Nice poll.

RPGs (JRPG=WRPG, WPRG=JRPG) and everything Platinum Games makes. I know that second one isn't a genre, but it ought to be.

I grew up on JRPG's as well, mostly ones on the SNES and some early playstation ones. However for the past couple of years games like Mass Effect and The elder scrolls have really turned me towards western games.

I prefer the Horror genre because i like odd spooks and jump moments in horror games especially when i played Resident Evil 2+3 back in the day i'd jump when so much as a doberman jumps out of a window or when Nemesis would show up out of nowhere.

WRPGs, I like to RP and lose myself in the immersive story. Not to say JRPGs can't do that, but well... Turn-based combat gets in the way, for me. I also like stealth-based games. And action games.

FPS by far (and 3rd person shooters)
Tho my favourite game of all time is RPG (Mass effect 1&2), still i tend to get bored before the end on average RPG games.
