I searched the forums and couldn't find one, so apologizes if this has been made before (I can imagine it has)

Simple question, are you right or left handed?

I'm a proud lefty that will allegedly die 18 years sooner than everyone else because i'm both tall AND left handed ._.

Here's a test made by Cleverlymadeup to determine what had you use most often:

1 what hand do you write with
2 get someone to throw a ball at you and stop it from hitting you
3 stand in front of a table and try and pick up an object off it

EDIT: Okay, just because you can "Do somethings with *insert opposite hand here* does NOT mean that you are ambidextrous. If you are ambidextrous then that would mean that you can do everything with both hands with more or less equal products. Just because you can do some with your other hand does not mean your ambidextrous.

Just needed to clarify that.

I'm ambidextrous I think. I write and do most activities with my right but I catch and do a few others with my left.

And what's that about dying young cause your tall and left-handed?

Huh...I don't know really. I draw/write with my left, use the mouse in my right. But I can't use a stylus in my right hand, and can't use the mouse in my left. Forks/Spoons in the left too, altough I can use Chopsticks in either. So, it's not really Ambidextrous, guess I'll vote left for simplicity.

Also, there's a bit of a right handed 'bias' in the world still. And in some schools in the west up until recently where kids would be forced to use their right hand.
Aswell, there's all those myths surrounding left handedness, most of them not very positive heh.

Edit: Found it, I'm 'Cross-dominance' apparently. Well, according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dominance

You probably use your right for the mouse.

I was ambidexterious until my parents told my teachers to prohibit dualwielding crayons and force me to use my right arm only, so I wouldn't go left. Bastards. I was a crayon genius!

use a mouse on the right while I use a calulator with left. I'm just wierd. The only thing I can not do is play splinter cell with one hand and gears of war with another

A lot of lefties here o_O statistical anomaly

I myself am also a lefty. Hardcore, too. The only thing I can do with my right hand is use the mouse. Smoking, holding a glass, playing guitar - all lefthanded activities. Pretty weird.

ok the thing is this EVERYONE can do things with both hands, i can bat, use a mouse, use a controller, eat, play guitar, pick up things with my left hand and i box southpaw (right hand forward) but i'm dominant right hand, boxers say i should have left hand forward in that case

the way to test which hand you use is pretty easy

1 what hand do you write with
2 get someone to throw a ball at you and stop it from hitting you
3 stand in front of a table and try and pick up an object off it

which ever hand you do that the most with is your dominant hand and therefore tells you what hand you are and it's also the hand you do most things with

most ppl who say they are ambidextrous or one side dominant aren't, they just want to seem special and sorry to burst your bubble but you aren't

Apparently, the kids at my school/my own damn friends say that left handed people die about 7-9 years earlier than right handed people because they use the less used part of their brain and that tall people die about 6-9 years because it takes the blood to long to make a complete rotation around the body.

I call bullshit on that, but still >_>

True enough, however, out of of those, using the mouse, eating and picking things up, boxing, possibly the guitar. All the others you technically use both hands i.e. the bat and controller.

Actually, I never really thought about it...but do controllers count as right or left handed?
The majority as standard seem to always have the d-pad or movement analogue stick on the left side, and the action buttons and look analogue stick on the right, does that make most controllers left handed or right? (Although of course they -are- both technically since you can't very well only use one side or the other ^^')

And as for the mice, a lot of people seem to learn the opposite then what their handedness is, mostly left handers since a lot of mice are right handed. Though there are mice that are neither, the single button mouse for the Mac comes to mind.

1 what hand do you write with

3 stand in front of a table and try and pick up an object off it
How does no.3 work? I don't get how picking up something tells you your handedness, will a person not be able to pick up something with whatever hand is weakest?

But no.1 is usually sufficient, whatever hand you primarily write with.
No.2 is a bit iffy too, as there are people who catch catch thrown objects quite well regardless of handedness.

I seem to only be able to use my right hand in everything. My grandpa can actually use both hands, but his opposite hand can only write backwards. How strange is that?!?!?!?!

not always there's a dominant side

also your one hand, cept possibly guitar and to a certain extent typing, doesn't have the fine motor control something like writing or drawing or painting does. try painting a miniature with your opposite hand

#3 works because when if an object is placed in front of you and equal distant between left and right you will always reach for the object with your dominant hand, you have to consciously switch hands to your off hand

it has nothing to do with the strength of the arm or hand

#2 is the way you block things, yes i catch with my left and throw with my right HOWEVER if i'm putting up my "holy shit" helmet my right goes up first

i could add a 4 to that and say "throw a baseball or tennis ball" your dominant hand will throw it fluidly like a pitcher would and your off hand will as the saying goes throw like a girl
