And they would do something stupid with proprietary technology that made it hard to develop for.
And don't forget that if somebody did make a gamer or utility for it that was better than the apple program, they wouldn't allow it to be used without "jailbreaking" it.

If apple made another console and if it was successful, I feel Armageddon just around the corner. Like what nothers have stated above, it would be nothing but some sort of "trendy" product that isnt worth what they make it out to be.

if apple made a console it would be shiny and tiny and completely utterly awesome, except for playing games on. because they would make it ridiculously hard for lesser mortal to create games as this would tarnish the greatness of the Iplay.

i think it would be pretty good actually. it wouldn't be that expensive. i think they're smarter than that. it would certainly have pretty good hardware.

the controller should be touch or something like that, it would be good and not too gimmicky. one thing that i don't want it to be is and add on to some other thing (i.e. apple T.V. or iphone)

The main problem would be making games, but look at how easy it is to make apps for the itouch. they could expand that a ton and get a really easy way to make good games, not the application to build the applications but the code

If it was cheap and had some good games then I would probably bye it not that I'm a huge apple fan but I can think of loads of retro games that need sequels and remakes and besides apple did well with it's Ipod so it could do well with a game console or pc/console hybrid.

It was considered one of the biggest "console flops" of all time, if not THE biggest flop.

Also, the iPhone (3G I think) has games and Apple is boasting that it's the best handheld game experience out there!

I wouldn't know. Looks like it uses sixaxis or something of the like in one of their racing games.
But you could play online with your friends, and was the first console to allow you to do so.

They'd make a gaming console and it'll become a international cult sensation like everything they make.
It would bring on the end of gaming in about half an hour, and the end of the world in about oh, 31 minutes.

Knowing Apple....it would be completely overpriced. If the PS3 started at $499-599. I can't even think what Apple would charge.

Plus all there games would require you to hug someone or something else just at loony.

Given their trend towards miniaturization, with the various generations of iPod getting smaller, thinner, etc. The iPod nano, the Shuffle it is fairly reasonable to conclude that their console would embed augmented reality technology (a form of Virtual Reality where you can still see your surroundings, but the 'fantastical' is overlaid on top in the manner of a hallucination that responds to orientation and spatial movement with the aid of GPS) into a pair of spectacles with a Head Up Display. These specs could be used for social networking like Loopt and would probably be called something like:

iWear

Within five years of this Apple would say that they had come up with a much less cumbersome hypoallergenic contact lens simply called:

Wow, why so much hate for Apple? The way some people talk you would think
steve jobs is a Nazi Baby eater that votes republican and takes loudly on public
transport.

Ok, "those adverts" piss me off too but I've been using Macs for about 17 years
and they've yet to come close to teeth pullingly frustrating to use as a
windows based pc.

Point is, Apple macs where not made for the gaming or casual market.
They were made for people that wanted to work on a film or design project
and not have a Blue screen of death just when you were about to click save
after working for 4 sodding hours and then have to finish the project on
your own unpaid time because there was no way you could put an invoice in
for 8 hours of design work just for a bloody flyer! Hence you were late home,
hence the girlfriend gets narky at you for being late so you have a bog row, she
moves out and you left home alone trying to find pixelated nawks on a 5.6kb
sodding connection that takes about a year to load a picture just to find out she was
a bloody lady boy after all and the only sense of relief is that you didnt decide to
pull one off just by looking at her tits.

In short, this whole fad for everyone and their dog having an mac is a waste of of time
and money. It's like me running a shop selling precision surgical tools and looking on
in bemusement as people flood in to buy £50,000 worth of equipment just to cut up
their sodding steak.

If you want to game, get a p.c or a console. They've been doing it years and pretty much
know who to make things work right. You go into an apple store the games are at the back
looking lonely. A mac is not a gaming machine. It may every now and again get a port.
Even more so now that apple has sold their soul to intel and every one and their dog is buying
a 2 grand piece of a equipment and installing vista on it. Half the reason a mac is so stable is
because of OSX for gods sake.

And yes they're are not cheap. But my G5 mac power mac dual paid for itself within a couple of weeks of design jobs. Is now over
2 years old and still runs Creative suite 3 like a dream. They could have made a G5's case out of plastic instead of aluminium.
They could have used the cheapest parts that could be made of cardboard and dog sick so long as they met the technical specs (Dell & Time i'am looking at you_
And i'am glad they didnt.

They took the good parts from the console world. a standard layout that developers
could work too and not have to take into account a million different possible hardware specs and drivers.
And what came out the other end is a nice stable work station that allows me to make a living.

I think I had a point somewhere it that rant...

[edit]
Pic in previous post kinda makes my point. Buy the mac knife if all you want to to is make cuts in things.

By the windows multi knife if you want to be ready for they 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and be ready to
remove stones from their horses hooves. Just be prepared to fiddle about with it to get the knife out.

BTW I do have a p.c too. I use it for media centre
