I got into a discussion with some younger Pokemon players yesterday about what would be best for the series going forward. When I said it would be better if the games weren't made by Gamefreak anymore they asked who should make them, and Bioware immediately popped to mind. I still haven't come up with a real reason why it shouldn't happen. Thoughts?

It would likely piss off all the Pokemon fans, but since I'm a Bioware fan, it would be beneficial to me at least.

However, I can only imagine how angry I would be if Mass Effect 3 had me collecting 1000 different reapers and pitting them against each other in turn-based battles... Since that kind of rage is exactly what Pokemon fans would feel in this situation (I assume), it's probably a bad idea.

I'd rather not see this happen. Peanut Butter and Pickles may be fantastic things but mixing them doesn't make something entirely orgasmic to eat. More likely you'll be sickened and wish you had never mixed the two in the first place.

[sub]I don't think Nintendo is letting go of that cash cow XD[/sub]

Umm, do you have an option in the poll for...confusion? I guess I'll go with the Worst Idea, because I like pokemon for what it is, a childish, nostalgic, and happy game. I love how they tried for a (slightly) more grown up story in Black and White, but I don't want a gritty dark fantasy take on the pokemon world. There was an article (which I unfortunately can't find at this moment) that covered this topic very well. Pokemon is what it is and you can't ask it to dramatically change into something more adult just because you grew up.

And besides, I don't want to live in a world where NPC pokemon trainers don't have the stupidest, cheesiest dialogue imaginable.

Just keep the story simple and NOT a huge factor. Having a powerful graphics engine to make the pokemon look powerful will be nice instead of looking like cartoons. You know what? It would probably look like this

And the battles would look like this

Argh, if only the forums allow us to post gif commands
It's just the img command. Would be nice to see pokemon try something new.

Love this gif. When I first thought of a pokemon game after watching the show I thought the game would be like that.

It may be interesting shoe-horning in a morality system into the game because the game assumes you're always a good-two-shoes. However, for me, what makes Pokemon magical are the Pokemon.

What would make Pokemon really interesting to me would be to make it into an MMO. For a starters the single player plot isn't that exciting. You feel like you're insignificant anyway among the myriad of other Pokemon trainers.
There are elements of that in the recent games but they're a bit elitist towards living like tinned sardines with other Pokemon fans (I live in rural Wales for God's sake. I'd be surprised if anyone near me will be playing) or Wi-Finess which just feels awkwad.
Compaire loading up a client on my PC and loggin in opposed to my DS trying to establish Wi-Fi connection... I'm afraid the PC MMOs win.

But yeah. The problem with Pokemon is that it's hard to innovate, you can only refine. You got to give credit though that they've tried spin-off games in different Genres. I'd love a beat-em-up Pokemon (not smash Bros.).

I think Gamefreak should sell Pokemon to Marvel, so we could get a feature film about each of the original 150, and thirty years later, we'll get "Pokemon: Avengers" where all the Pokemon fight Loki in New York.
