Why is MA/M not on your poll?
Isn't M just a video game rating?

@OT: X doesn't exist any more.
I don't know about elsewhere, but here in Australia there's G, PG, M, MA (15+), and R. I don't think we get unrated.
I suppose OP is talking about US-ratings. They got

G, PG, PG-13, M, NC-17 (formerly X)

"Unrated" is just a bullshit marketing thing. Mostly those are R-rated or (rarely) NC-17-rated, but the labels print "unrated" on them to be able to say "this shit was too intense for movie theaters, so we have to charge you extra".
Huh. How odd. Yeah, I figured the "unrated rating" was essentially a lie. Kinda like all the "uncut" dvd releases that are too hot for cinemas...

They'd have to find an impossibly figured women to play a crappy role that's more geek-pandering than Lara Croft was...

Most of the time I don't see the point of video game films, I mean if you have enough story left to make a film why not make another game with it? The whole point of games is that they are interactive, and that's something you don't get with a film.
Please note that I'm not trying to say I have films, because I don't. I just think that if the creators had thought that the story was fit for a film they would have made a film instead of a game.

Don't think it would work either. Maybe Miike Takashi can do something with the material, but I can't for the life of me think of who would play Bayonetta..

It would probably go straight to DVD, I wouldn't doubt that it might get a theatrical release in Japan, but it would get a DVD release here. Although I highly doubt it would make any sense if it were made into a movie.

It would suck ass and either go straight to DVD or be rated R.
Knowing the focus on ASSets in that game, probably straight to dvd.

Why is it whenever someone suggests making a movie based on a game, everybody seems to think "live action"?

No, no, no. There is no need for that any more. If you want to make a movie based on a game from the last five years, then you can use the game itself to create the movie. The technology is more than sufficient for the task, and in the case of anything big-budget, you'll already have all the voice acting already done.

Bayonetta isn't something I would want to watch as a movie. If it were to be rated, it would be R. Otherwise it probably wouldn't even get to the theatres.
