I voted no. Which is something I didn't think I'd ever do when it involved a Metal Gear game. But, you have to realize that the game would be nothing more than MGS3 only the main character is a woman and it's further in the past. The entire point of that game was to show that it was an endless cycle of what transpired in that game. Boss did it, Solid then did him in, and so on. There wouldn't be a giant glaring reason to do the game. And I'm pretty sure Hideo has said awhile back he doesn't want to make Metal Gear games anymore, and he's handing the reigns over to a different team.

Boss the woman, Big Boss was snake in mgs 3, Solid Snake from 1,2,4 is The clone of Big Boss (snake)

It wouldn't be much of a solo sneaking mission game anymore, which is what made the game fun. Playing in ww2 mgs also is a stretch. (German Super Walking Tanks? GSWT metal gear? ;)

Boss was Teamed up with the Cobra's in most of her career. Until the Events of Cuba missile crises.

What i'm hoping for is maybe they continue the story with Johnny and/or Meryl either that or some cure for solid snake(why couldn't he just got a terminal illness then aging). I just can't stand Raiden(don't think ill be getting rising).
If they can graft a hand and nanomachines make a man Liquid then i bet snake can figure out a way.

Well what i last read about Kojima was that he was going to continue the series, most likely because it was so popular. He can't resist making some secretive twisted story. Also why go through all the trouble of making a full hd mgs engine, using it mostly for cutscenes(i wish i was joking) and then not using it for some more games. Bring back the survival food yeahhh.

A remake of mgs1 in full awesome hd would be on my wishlist.

I'm not quite sure where they can take the series in terms of the main characters now. Snake is done, Peace Walker sets us up for the first Metal Gear quite nicely and Rising will cover Raiden. What I would like is a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2.

If I can remember where I read the interview where he specifically said he didn't want to do them anymore I'll toss you a link. Unless, he has completely turned a 180 it basically came down to him being burnt out on it, and wanting to move on. They're going to continue making games, but he isn't doing anything but producing. Like I said unless he has reversed his position entirely.

EDIT: Also this

I'm not sure. I think the extent of what we know of her from Metal Gear Solid 3 is good enough. She is left as a great character with a huge impact on the plot. I think if we stretch out her backstory, it will just lessen how awesome she is.

The twist will be snake will wake up non-aged and go "oh it was all a dream, thank god"

Funny if Snake woke up and went "ohh it was just a dream"

"Despite the many, many instances where Hideo Kojima promised he was finished with the Metal Gear Solid series, he?s always returned to it one more time, and it looks like the pattern will continue"

Guessing what's on Kojimas mind and what a eventual plot would be, is like guessing the number of stars in the universe. Which is fun due to the possibilities.

It's still vaguely in the air apparently. Like I said he may have completely reversed his position (again). No surprise, for some reason he always decries making more of them and then comes back. Can we all say money? :)

no i think she played her part in mgs3. now if they want to make a game about the original fox hound where you play as revolver ocelot, sniper wolf, raven, decoy octopus, liquid, and phyco mantis..... now that would be gme of the year

Except they didn't. He was always revolver ocelot, it was just some good acting through hypnothreapy.

If they don't introduce a new charcter, in a good way (not just pulling them from the abyss and sticking them with some backstory), I will feel like MGS is being milked and I really don't want that to happen.

I don't want to play as any "bad" guy (Vamp, sniper wolf etc) and I don't want to ruin the awesome charcter of the boss.

It will be interesting what they do after rising, whether it be end it or introduce new people.

As much as I love Metal Gear Solid, I think the series should end and Kojima should find a new project. I feel like any further installments would either over-saturate, or dilute the series, and I want to remember it for what it IS. Bat-shit insane stories and everything.

As excited as I was at first about playing as The Boss, the other posters made some convincing arguments (mainly that giving her more back-story would make her less awesome, and that a WW2 MGS just wouldn't work). Also, I don't really see the MGS story continuing much further into the future after 2014 (MGS4) either. So if anything, I'd rather see a remake of the first two Metal Gear games on the ps3 (not the nintendo versions, the MSx 2 versions), with maybe some more story thrown in.

I'm ok with it. So long as they didn't mess up her character, I'd find it fun. Did you know the voice actor for the Boss is the same voice actor as "Diane Simmons" on Family Guy?

I voted yes because I see the possibilities!

A squad based stealth game set during WW2 Wher all of your squad have bizzre powers, Or they would basicaly have to remake MGS3 but with older weapons and involve her
killing The Sorrow

I have said this ever since the end of MGS 3... would much prefer a game based around the Boss rather than Metal Gear Rising!

I am a massive fanboy of the series, so I treat it like I do when I draw, which sounds a little weird but bear with me, I am crap at drawing so I get to a point were I think "this looks good but I'm scared if I carry on I will ruin it, but I want to carry on drawing".

So I want to play MGS but I don't want it to ruin this series for me.

This is were my inner fanboy kicks in, they say the story is insane and sheer "what the Fuckery" but is it any worse than star worse? I still don't get the order of that shit, let alone the actual story.

In most games the story is so shallow it wouldn't wet your ankles, "there is an evil force that must be stopped and here is some light background on the guys involved", even what we consider greats have this Oblivion, Morrowind, mass effect, any FPS game etc but MGS has more story than a most movies (even though MGS4 was a movie with gameplay elements).

Each person seems to have a full background to them, not some "you picked up Eva's file, which you can read if you want" and all it has in it are some bull shit stats like "Height: 5 foot 8, Born: USA, Lives in: China" then a single paragraph for a bio. Even the beauties in MGS3 get a pretty decent background given to them, even though they are seen for less than 10 mins in the entire game.

The beauties even link back to other games, the animals come from the first game (psycho mantis = screaming manits, sniper wolf = crying wolf) and the emotions come from the third game (the joy, the sorrow, the fear etc).

I know I go on and on but that is the fanboy in me.
