I think I'll go with Mirriam-Webster's sixth entry on the noun form of this:
The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects; also : works so produced.

So technically, this [http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/photos/uncategorized/2009/02/14/122525716_32a8f9749a_b.jpg] is art. Make of that what you will.

Art is whatever works for you. Or more precisely, because I'm a self-involved prick at heart, whatever works for me.

Art is anything humans do that isn't related to survival. It's all encompasing, or are you asking "what is 'high art'?"

Art is something that has been formed when someone puts their soul (or whatever anyone may call the truest most raw essence of a being) into something they create.

Also it is what Scott McCloud says it is...

To me, art is any medium or piece in which someone expresses themselves. Even if its crushed Starbucks cups.

What does that say about yourself? That you are not creative, possibly elitist, or maybe trying to make a quick buck out of morons.

What do games, music and paintings say? Volumes. Games express mountains of creativity, say whatever the hell you want they express a lot more than anyone thinks they do. They create as much as an atmosphere as movies do.

"We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless"
Oscar Wilde
