In your opinion, of course.

I'm currently playing through Homeworld for the first time and loving it, despite some UI elements feeling a bit dated and pain-in-the-ass-ish. The story elements are amazing though and the game is plenty of fun. Homeworld 2 is next on the list.

The only other Relic game I've played is Company of Heroes, which I thought was also fantastic. So clearly, they know what they're doing.

But I've never played Impossible Creatures or a Dawn of War game, so I'd like to know what people's thoughts on those are. I might have to get them too.

Feel free to rank all the ones you've played.

As a console gamer, the only Relic game I've played is The Outfit, so that wins by default.

Dawn of War games have been great and Relic do the Warhammer 40k universe damn well. Dark Crusade was a really awesome highpoint of the first DoW. Sisters of Battle, Dark Eldar and the bigger campaign map didn't do anything special for me in Soulstorm.

Dawn of War 2 was a more tactical game where you only control a few squads at a time. While you get a better sense of power from your units (as it should be in the 40K universe), I never really connected with them as much. Good, but not what I was looking for I guess.

Company of Heroes was probably the best strategy game they've done despite the all-too-familiar WW2 setting. Sound effects of heavy ordinance always rumble my entire room when a big skirmish match is going on. :3

But for me it comes down to the first Homeworld. HW2 was the better game but HW1 had better story and an atmosphere that always sent shivers down your spine. The music there was something special and unique. I hope we'll see a Homeworld 3 someday that develops the great gameplay of HW2 and embraces the extremely atmospheric experience of the first.

I can't remember Incredible Creatures but I think I only ever played a demo of it.

All in all, Relic make great games and you can't go wrong with any of them. It just depends what your cup of tea is.

I'm going to have to go with Dawn of War.

I've had so many good memories playing that game with friends.

Plus Dawn of War is probably the most quotable game I've ever played.

Homeworld. That game was a masterpiece.

It was innovative, decent graphics for the time, fun as hell, and hard as hell.

DoW was good. Relic did a fantastic job brining the 40k universe to PC gamers.

But Homeworld wins here. Incredible atmosphere, decent graphics, had, fun, and extremely emotional.

All of those games you listed apart from impossible creatures are worthy of the title of best relic game tbh.

Never played a relic game other then the demo for Space marine- always liked the look of the Dawn of War series but never possessed a powerful enough desktop.

Dawn of War, but only because Space Marine hasn't come out quite yet... xD /bigtimewh40kfan

No, but seriously. The DoW games are pretty much the only Relic games I've played, and the first is much better than the second. In my opinion, anyway. ^^

The original Dawn of War series.

Specifically a toss up between Dark Crusade for the online and Winter Assualt for the campaign.

Man, what a track record. The internet should send them a nice cigar.
So hard to choose, so I choose all... not The Outfit though, and maybe not Soulstorm.

Does the original Dawn of War (and its expansions) involve base building? I've watched a review for DoW2 that mentioned the lack of it. So do they play actually very differently? Is that part of why people seem to like the original more, or is it story/presentation related rather than gameplay?

Of the Relic games I've played, it's definitely one of the Dawn of War games, but I'm not sure which one. If I go by time spent on playing the game, I guess I have to go with Dark Crusade, but my favour is beginning to shift towards Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising, probably because it's not only a lot of fun, but also the characters are much better developed.

I love company of heroes [Opposing Fronts], yea I'm one of those English types that likes my country to "get involved" occasionally.
But anyways, in my opinion they have the right mix of game play that the opposing spectrum of DOW I and II did wrongly, one being a massive spam fest and the other having about 8 men under your command. COH sat nicely in the middle and was better off for it.
