Over here in Northern America, we tend to think of the BBC as this classy reliable source of news, a cut above our own mainstream media (CNN, Fox etc.) However talking to one of my friends from the UK, you'd think that across the pond they don't care for it at all, placing it on a level of trashiness equivalent to Faux News itself.

So please: Where are you from, and how do you regard the BBC?

The BBC is, well, as bad as all media sources. All of them give false info, all of them exaggerate... I don't think they're any worse than any other place.

Although, to be honest, I get my news from the Guardian (I'm in the UK, btw).

Voted Al Jazeera for the lolz. I get my news from other people who feel the need to link me to news articles that they found interesting, and from escapist threads /random links elsewhere that happen to catch my eye.

Otherwise, I do not get news.

The BBC. News for the UK...

I get my news from the Colbert Report. It's sad when the only place for unopinionated News is a comedy show...

BBC Once a day at 7am (before I go to work).

American media is not global media and as such is useless to me as a media outlet.

But it is important to form your own ideas and not just take any outlets word for anything.

News should be informative and, IMHO, the BBC is the best.

I only trust the BBC because of their impartiality clause and they tend to have good tv too. Top gear, doctor who and spooks. Just shame about eastenders. But i don't just use the BBC for news i also read the independant and the economist to get a nice round picture of whats going on...darn politics and IR. The BBC can be as bad as the other sources and i would love to murder Murdoc but they are the best of the worst. It really bugged me with the whole Jade Goody thing when there wee bigger things happening. But yesh i do trust the BBC more than any other source

BBC stands for the British Brainwashing Corp-... Hey look doctor who is on....
And I get my news from what I see to be as unbiased, The Daily Show, with Jon Stewart.

Totally disagree - look at papers like the Daily Mail; the BBC is far more credible than that bunch of morons (and its readership).

The BBC may be a government controlled news outlet, but the Daily Mail, Faux News - everyone really - are all controlled by the right wing (Rupert Murdoch).

Now, I'm much more of a "best of both, troubles of neither" kind of person when it comes to the left/right wing thing and how the government should be run, but the amount of xenophobic bullshit spouted by right-wingers drives me nuts.

I think the BBC is mostly reliable, trustworthy and accurate.

It comes under a lot of attack in the UK for several reasons, not least because it's in the way of Rupert Murdoch achieving near-total media takeover, which means he directs a lot of his newspaper and satellite channel power and influence to criticise it.

I just watch when they play Spaced or The Young Ones. Which is very, very rare.

A regard it as a station that shows dr who?
This, too.
I listen to their old radio station recordings.
Me and my towel love these recordings.

I'm in the UK and the BBC is awesome, apart from that time they didn't show Metallica at Live 8, that sucked.

The BBC to me is the best of the worst.

Also the only channels on TV that I watch (aside from Dave which is just the BBC's illigitimate offspring).
