Poll: What is usually found in your Escapist inbox?

In the beginning they were all badges, but now they are all quotes. I have gotten, five(?), PMs in my time here on the escapist, and those were only to continue the "discussion" out of the forum.

If it's 1 or 2 messages: "Oh boy, some people quoted me!"
If it's 4+ messages: "Oh fuck, what did I say this time?"

I turn off most chat notifications for groups so I don't have like several thousand messages in my inbox.

I know that feel bro. Except I usually know when a shit storm be a brewin. I have very... polarizing opinions on some topics.

90% group messages. I keep my favorite group chat notifications on so I know whenever someone posts something. A few of the bigger groups I turn off though otherwise I get far too many. I keep their news and reply notifications on though.

I get the odd PM every now and then and a few quotes (especially if I've made a thread recently).

Overwhelmingly group chat notifications, but I get a fair few quotes and the occasional PM/friend request too. I keep forgetting badges are a thing.

Usually people quoting me to tell me how sexist I am and how I need to check my white straight male cis-privilege. The amount of times I've seen the yellow envelope with double digits beside it and thought 'who did I offend this time?' Is staggering. The first time I got the 5000 messages glitch I thought 'I've really done it this time.' I was honestly disappointed that I hadn't managed to start a 5000 post long shitstorm.

Then there's the odd usergroup notification or the more recent moderator warning notification.

Also every time I change my avatar I get tones of messages asking where they are from. If you want lots of PMs all you need is a cute girl from an obscure anime in .gif format and you'll have dozens of PMs a week.

Uuuuh...I'd have to say that it's usually stuff from the Forum Games group, to be honest. Saucy .gifs and such. Ooh, plus something from Marter's reviews. Very rarely, I'll get a notification of a badge earned the day before.

In groups I don't post in at all.

My inbox is at...763 messages currently. Probably need to go ahead and turn group chat notifications off.

Other than that there will be an occasional badge notification when I feel like doing a quiz for whatever reason. Besides that, nothing.

Just a head's up, jokes are specifically not exempted from the low content rule, it's even written in the Escapist's Code of Conduct:

This could be anything from simply answering a question, posting LOL, "agreed," "this," +1, or even a joking quip.

When my message icon lights up, it's usually because someone is passive-aggressively attacking and insulting me in a quote somewhere.

Yep, sometimes I venture into the Religion and Political side of the forum after avoiding it for months, you know just to voice an opinion so maybe I can broaden my knowledge on a subject, and then you'll get some crazed throffing at the mouth loon who's devoted their life and every hour of their day to this one field that they specialise in, only to bombard you with this dissertation like argument that proves why everything you've said and will ever say is completely and utterly wrong whilst also explaining why you're a terrible person. It's so off putting and sometimes I just groan when I see the quote notification.

Oh and since there's not been enough put downs in these quotes. "YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE YOU!"

I'm not particularly offensive or social, and I don't get quoted too much, so just badges really. Even those have slowed a bit since I haven't taken a lot of quizzes recently.

Mostly quote notifications of people replying, agreeing or disagreeing with my bullshit. Also group notifications though I don't pay them a whole lot of attention and I'm never sure how the chat room works.

Usually the PMs are from the same small pool of people though.
I'm pretty active in one or two groups, one in particular, so most of my chat notifications are from there.

I'll occasionally get quoted, usually not for nice reasons though. D:

I have group messages turned off for my 3 groups that have constant attention, but I still get the news notifications, which I will probably have a few at a time from the Injustice League inviting me to a group chat... (which is always when I am not availiable! :S)

Usually a mix of quotes and system messages. I haven't been getting quoted as much as I used to, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Most of them are usually just people that want to be right and (try to) hide behind clever insults that won't get them in trouble.

I don't post very often compared to some people though, so there is only so much trouble I can stir up.

I usually get chat message responses from groups. And aww emmy I loves you!. Occasionally I get quoted and half the time the person quoting me is an idiot and trying to get me into a yelling match so usually I tend to ignore them unless I have something to add to discussion and the quoted response...and I get notifications whenever marter adds a new review

I always enjoy seeing what shows up when I get 30% or something on a quiz about something I know nothing about!
