Dating- I have been in a very happy relationship with a girl for almost 5 years (Our first date was a few days after Half-Life 2's PC release date). We share many common interests and plan to get married after we graduate from college.

People who voted "I don't feel like sharing that information", why come in here.
I imagine to see what the answers of their fellow Escapists are? Common sense really.
Sorry, allow me to rephrase.

People who voted "I don't feel like sharing that information", why vote?

Married...to a gamer...met at a game store after reading an ad for a table top Vampire RPG. Video games don't tend to have that option. >-> You kind of have to already know the person if you are going to invite them back to your place to play video games. Hmmm...I guess there are the cyber-cafes that have game systems. Could try meeting people that way and helping them learn some games you are good at.

Just remember: "Let the wookie win." (Wookie here = new guy or girl. Pwning new players will make them leave very quickly and you will be alone again. If you can't lose, try to suck equally.) :)

Okay, you should put this in the "you know you are gamer when..." post!

You know you are a gamer when...you remember important dates by what game was released around that time! That's a first, dude! :)

I suppose you're right, so allow me to restate the stereotype: 'gamers are usually single' Does that sound a little better?
It indeed does sound better, but now it's not right any more, because now you're talking about any person who is playing video games or has had played a video game. Including casual gamers.
Don't take that too seriously ;)

But what I do think is that the "Single" option is a little too simplified. "Single" can be "single for two weeks" or "never had a relationship at all" - the possibilities are infinite.
I only have nine slots.
You're asking the wrong question for the thing you want to find out. If you want to know whether the prejudice "gamers are lonely geeks" is true, you should ask "How long has it been since your last relationship?"
That'd be where the discussion kicks in. People vote and (occasionally) explain the situations more thoroughly. That way we find out who among us are not interested in a relationship right now, who recently broke off of a relationship, or who the lonely people are.
Okay you got me there, end of discussion. Still it'd be a little more convenient if it was the other way around (at least I think so).

the reason most gamers are single are we are the true hero's of the world like the hero's in games we have to be single its another sacrifice we go through as you wouldnt see master chief having to hide in a corner trying to protect his back as he has the twins in a back pack or solid snake sneaking up on a guard only for his phone to go off which he then answers to "hi sweetie i just thought i would ring you as i havent spoke to you for ages" "oh... hi um sorry darling but this is really a bad time can you ring back later please" okay only for you thou i love you loads dave" "love you too" "no i love you more" "okay bye" hangs up.Snake looks up to find a gun in his face "oh crap not again".See having a relationship is unpractical for heros.

Dating/It's complicated...

Maybe people should see the fact that others are single as a sort of solidarity (because there are people here in the same situation), or even they should be happy that people are single, because that means there will be more single women or men out there for them to date (I mean the ratio of men to women is roughly 50:50, so a guy not in a relationship means one more single girl, missing out polygamy etc)!

Or am I just making myself hated here for being optimistic...
