My definition of camping would be sitting in a corner, waiting for people to come by,and repeat this process for the rest of this game.

I would not consider patrolling one house as camping.

I want to know the general consensus on what camping exactly is. If your definition is not in the poll choices, please pick other and type it down.

EDIT: NOOOO, NOT THE THING WITH THE FIRE AND THE MARSHMALLOWS AND THE TENTS AND THE AWKWARD SITUATIONS!

hiding in one spot hiding usually behind an entrance where you cant be seen from said entrance and killing anyone who comes through there.... so yeah basically hiding in a corner

basically hiding in a corner but in alot of maps there is usually one spot where you can "patrol" a small area by that one point in the camouflage so basically the same thing but i hate both of those.

...I'm sorry but when you camp you don't move. When someone sets up camp, they generally are there to stay. Did we -really- need to define it?

Usually for games you pick a room, hang out in there for people to come. You've set up camp in that room. You're camping. If you're patrolling you can't be camping.

It's hiding in a corner and ambushing the clumsy run and gunners... and it's not camping, it's tactical waiting.

Hiding in a corner is where I place my vote, but there are some games where camping doesn't bother, if it's a massive map with like 20 players on a team, camping doesn't matter that they are camping.

That's pretty much exactly my view on it also sitting in a spot where you can only cover like one door or window or whatever and you don't look away from it.

Sticking in the same spot that's near to, but in an advantageous position of a spawn point to hit people just as the respawn.

Using smart tactics to control an advantageous area giving yourself a substantial advantage. Sometimes problematic when combined with bad mapping.

I chose other.

Camping is when you take a tent and marshmallows into the wilderness and sleep in the tent overnight.

Camping is just sticking to one place and letting them come to you. The corner thing is camping, but you don't really need to be in a corner to be camping. As long as you are relatively stationary and trying to catch people coming by off guard.

If you're using a sniper rifle that's sniping not really camping. If you're moving around with a sniper rifle you're not really using it the way it is intended.

Not all camping involves respawn points. That's a specific type of camping, and the only one that is blatantly cheap.

It's all in the mentality.

If you KNOW for a fact that someone is around the corner, and you wait there, thinking "Ok, he'll come by and I'll shoot him", that's not camping, that's being smart.

If you go to a corner and wait there, thinking "Meh, someone will come around here EVENTUALLY.", that is camping.

If the poll is accurate I REALLY don't get why people hate campers so much and call it cheating. You can't win a game like that as you won't get many kills and its very easy to die when players can always trust you will be in that 1 spot always.

I voted 2. I have no problem with campers. Matter of fact, I love it when people are stupid enough to keep running back to the same spot I killed em so I can do it again.

Sitting in a corner the whole game counts for me. Not that I mind campers, really. If they don't move, then they're a free kill when I pass by with a grenade on hand. Sniping in one spot for the game counts less I think. If you're in my face or let me get in yours when you snipe, you're kinda doing it wrong (quick-scoping be damned).

If you remain in one small area the whole game, such as a small house or one room in a building, that's just as bad as sitting in the corner the whole game.

People that call it cheating are ignorant. It's extremely cheap, frustrating, and lame as all hell, but it certainly isn't cheating. Camping is just one of those things, like tower rushes in RTS or projectile spam in fighting games, that the vast majority of gamers find frustrating and not very fun. Considering video games are about having fun... camping goes against the very spirit of the game.

Usually i'd say sitting in a corner... But i'm remembering the mega camping fest that was BFBC2... Take 5+ Snipers (on your team) dot them around one huge rock overlooking the objective, add one Medic (more if your camping extraordinaryly hard) and prepare to watch yourself lose spectacularly.

All other camping just fails to compare to that
