Megadrive, i was a Sega fiend. I have never owned a Nintendo console and have never played any Mario or Zelda games, it was all about Sega for me.

SNES.... perfect time in gaming history when the graphics were petty enough.. yet limited to the point where developers had to creative and imaginative....

Ahhhh... the glory days of SNES....

You haven't put Xbox 1, so I'm saying it here. I had it it's whole life span, and have owned over 100 games for it. Quality console that was.

The question of what console is best has been on internet forums since they were invented, I have the answer, none of them, its all based on opinion.(Except for Jaguar, its a fact that it sucked)
The CD-i was worse
Oh, that console from Phillips?
Yeah I agree. Not to mention it butchered Mario and Zelda.
The insult to injury?
They are extremely rare and sell for over 1 Grand.

The first Playstation. Only PC can compete with the hours I've wasted infront of a screen with it.

What I don't get about all the N64 love is I absolutely hated that ungodly awful controller. It's the second worst controller design in video game history (only the Atari Jaguar beats it, with 20 buttons). I guess a lot of you are younger so for you the N64 was your first console or something. NES was my first console, I voted SNES :p

In general the 360 because nostalgia turns out to be overrated when you actually go back and play the games you used to love as a kid. but for its time definitely the SNES. Super mario world, kirby superstar and sparkster instantly come to mind when i think of its greatness.
You know, I actually do go back and play old NES and SNES games and still enjoy them. Like I said earlier some of the NES games aged well, and most of the SNES games I spent my early teens playing are still good today as well, they aged very well.

I find the games that aged the worst to be early 3d games (which there were a few on the SNES, pretty much limited to star fox and doom I think), so N64 and Playstation 1 actually seem more dated than the SNES and a few NES titles these days. I think the Sega Genesis seems more dated compared to SNES contemporary titles as well, mostly due to the sound difference. The SNES just had much better sound.

I own a 360 and a Wii and enjoy them so I'm not entirely biased against this generation.

The Xbox 360.
It's the only console I've ever had that hasn't broken in the first year (knocks on wood).

BTW if you put "other" to vote for the Sega Megadrive, you should be beaten with a stick, the Genesis is the Megadrive, and don't get all anal with your european inferiority complexes either, just know that it's the same machine.

PS2 here too.
I've been playing since they made home consoles and I have to say my favorite titles of all time were on the ps2: GTA San Andreas, Katamari, and Burnout Revenge(and 3).
And while I don't have as many amazing games (yet) what really impressed me about the ps3 is the fact that after I plugged it in, I was playing a ton of free demos. I didn't buy a game for a week. I just kept playing demos.

You should make a comparison only between consoles that belong more or less to the same generation, else it make little sense. If you compare the "old" consoles the SNES is hands down the best one IMHO; for the latest generation, Xbox 360 wins for me.

It's really a combo of the general Sega, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, Super Nintendo and the original Nintendo. We have the Atari somewhere. I want to dig it out. Haha.
