I've only recently started listening to electronica (I'm actually a big metalhead lol) and I want to know what everyone's favorite style is. I only entered the basic sub-genres but if you would also post your favorite sub-genre within your favorite sub-genre. For example My favorites are J-Core, Happy Hardcore, Makina, & Gabber (cuz I can't just post one) within the Hardcore genre. There are countless genres so, like I said, the poll just covers basics.

EDIT: Drum n should obviously say Drum n' Bass but it got cut off.

EDIT 2:
In order it's 1.Happy Hardcore 2.Makina, 3.J-Core, 4. Gabber If anyone likes the songs download at http://ruffbeatz.com/ they have some good stuff Psytrance Hardcore and Dubstep mostly :)

I am a "metalhead" also. When it comes to electronic music I mostly listen to dubstep. It's like the metal of the electronica. I sometimes listen to trance, too.

Industrial, easily. It's just so awesome and heavy, you know?

Personally I like Downtempo and acid jazz, pretty much anything really mellow:

Am I doing it right?

I don't think I could really pick a favorite. Love me some iiO, love me some NIN, love me some Gigi D'agostino.

Glitch, I dunno what is so appealing to it, I just love it.

Hmm I've never listened to Glitch before. I don't know what any other songs sound like in that genre, or if they all sound similar to that one, but I found it very relaxing :) I like it. Especially now since I'm in a chill mood.

Actually, thanks to the Popcandy songpacks of Stepmania and the music in <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.272426-Off-Topic-Reviews-Suguri#10504525>Suguri, I confess myself most fond of trance.

I just had to check this thread out because I knew dubstep would be showing up.
I did like dubstep for about a month, until I was forced to listen to TWELVE HOURS of it almost non-stop. And I realized it's just a noise. A sample. A single instrument. You can't put the triangle into a bunch of songs and call it a new genre, but that's what's happened in this case.
It sounds cool and all, but so did autotune the first time someone's heard it.

Anything fast, heavy, or solid sounding, either with an atmospheric synthy sound and a melody (late 90s rave music?), or just something erratic like Skrillex or Pendulum.

I am disappointed at the lack of love for House in this thread :)

Daft Punk all the way!

I don't like music based on genre, I like it based on music. ._.

Doesn't seem like your description to me :|

EDIT: Screw this, I'm going to link a bunch of songs. :>

My favourite sub-genre is technical death metal!

...

What? It is a genre that requires electricity. It is electronic music. Right?

...

Fine. What category does old-school video game music belong to? I didn't see chiptunes there.

I know what you mean but genres help me personally find what type of music I want to listen to, as I can't listen to certain genres if I'm in a certain mood. Also to find stuff similar to stuff I like. I, however, do not like the elitism and genre wars that it causes though :p

Everything that I couldn't fit in the poll is included in other. Also, Technical Death Metal requires electricity. I don't think you can make it with grandpa's guitars. But since you said you like Tech Death can I ask you a question? Do you like Necrophagist? I've heard lots of negative things about them, also positive, but people seem pretty divided on them. I like them and all their technical wankery :D
