That's pretty hard to choose, but I'm going to have go with whatever the hell Autechre is (IDM is such a silly genre label). Breakcore, glitch and ambient follow closely, though.

I used to love BT in the 90's, ECSM and Movement in Still Life (poppy!) are awesome, and I own both the UK and USA versions of the above. The house scene has really gone downhill with the influence of nü-disco and dance pop.
Probably comes from my love of vocal trance and vocal sampling in general.

The thing about sample is it really should go somewhere or do something (e.g., early Sandra Collins). Carl Cox is one of the greats, but I don't like him due to that very heavy D&B club sound.
