Horror movies probably have more sub genres in them than any other film genre. So which one is your favorite to watch?
Me personally I am a combination of Slasher films and giant monster movies/B-movies. Both of them have that right mixture of scary and awesome moments.

Psychological for me.

If I'm not freaked out for days because the movie made me overanalyze everything and scared the hell out of me to my core then I'm not interested.

Although I will say, I do love the occasional monster movies, South Korea did one not too long again and I loved it, I can't remember the name of it sadly.

Comedy.

Shaun of the Dead was particularly good at this by containing some disturbing "oh God, look away" moments as well as some really great comedy as well.

I think its best because it provides the thrill of a horror but leaves you to walk away from the movie feeling cheerful rather than frightened.

Well, I really don't watch a lot of horror films anymore, but those I tend to find most compelling when I do watch tend to be the psychological ones.

Also, and I don't mean to nitpick here, but "torture porn" is a pretty derisive name for the Splatterpunk genre, not to mention fairly misleading as regards its contents. I realize that it's a pretty controversial genre, and while many of its entries just use the over the top torture elements as a lazy method of generating press to lure in more viewers, there are some entries with a more solid philosophy behind them than "let's just see if we can gross people out or make them cringe." I don't mean to call you out on that, but considering that you've made this poll, I would think it's safe to assume that you have some love for the horror genre, and might be inclined to at least give it some thought before dismissing an entire sub-genre as value-less.

Is torture porn like 'The Human Centipede'? Because, if so, fuck no. If it's something else, also no.

I guess if it's not funny, it should dig deep. Psychological.

Psychological ones have the most effect on me because they are so not reality. That scares me. I LOVE the adrenaline hit when massive scares happen. I just recently watched 'The Haunting In Connecticut' I don't know where Connecticut is but I know it is a state of USA. That movie was fun. :D

'Splat-Stick', that is, comedic violence taken to the extreme, is my favorite horror movie genre. Most of all, you'll probably be horrified at yourself for laughing at horrific brutalities inflicted upon the characters.

Psychological. B movies are hilarious, and all have there merits, but a horror that genuinely tries to force you to confront the darker side of the human psyche are fantastic. In recent years, this seems to be epitomized by Japanese horror.

Sir, the lable Torture Porn should be used with care and not as a blanket statement. Just because a movie portrays extreme means of torture doesn't mean it doesn't have some deeper meaning. Often, extreme measures only help to get a specific message across. Porn is, really the lowest form of art in that it's only purpose is to stimulate & arouse the viewer.

By the logic displayed in calling an entire genre Torture Porn funny movies should be called Comedy porn, and romance movies Romance Porn. By taking movies at surface value only, you help only to deflect attention away the Filmmakers intended message. Now, some movies do exist only to please those sick enough to enjoy watching people get tortured and can accordingy be called Torture Porn but many use the methods depicted to get get a message across.

So, in the future lets use the term Porn carefully and not label an entire genre based on a couple examples. (Note: This is directed at anyone who uses the term Torture Porn, and not just the OP)

OT: All, though more often then not I lean towards low grade 70s & 80s slasher flicks.
