95. Just because I used it for so long, so basically for nostalgia.

But for actually what I prefer? 7 easily.

MS-DOS.

I'm playing it old school.

Anyone for a game of Wasteland?
Fuck Wasteland, I'm playing TES:ARENA!

MS-DOS was awesome. So was Win95 - XP. Only reason people 'think' (Because it's not true) Vista sucks; is cause it had the WORST marketing ever. It was released early; so hardware manufacturer's didn't have enough time to release fleshed out fully working drivers for the operating system. That's why so many people have errors with it. Once all the drivers were released and updated - Vista is actually a beautiful piece of software.

I myself use Vista most of the time - but I dual-boot Vista and XP so I use both. I voted for Win98 though; cause it had the features Win95 lacked, and the power that Win95 DID have.

It had ugly interface though =(

Yeah... cause you couldn't have two windows open simultaneously before...

Anyhoo, I haven't had a chance to get Windows 7 yet. Am doing ok with Vista at the moment. More or less.

Windows 7 is by far my favourite. Previously it was 2k, which was the most stable OS I've ever used.

Well, apart from C-64, UNIX and DOS.
And GEOS if you want to count Shells.

The half-screen snap is an excellent, time-saving feature.

you can work on both windows that are side by side. No need to minimize anymore. Saves a little bit of time and is less annoying. You'll see once you get Windows 7

I really like vista.

Never had any problems with it, and the additional task-bar thingywhatsit off to one side with the notepad helps when writing essays.

Though I've not tried Windows 7 - it sounds really neat for uni-work (the side-by-side ability), but I don't want to pay for a new OS and wouldn't trust my computer with a reformat/partition/whatever-the-fuck-I-have-to-do to install a new OS.

I don't get why people rag on Vista so much. It's really fast on my PC (it's not exactly high-spec either), but that might just be because I don't have too many programmes on here. Just mediaplayer, office, games, standard internet + safety stuff...basically a pretty minimal system. But it works fine and does everything I want it to at a damn quick pace, so you won't hear me complaining.

Windows 7 because it cost me $65 thanks to my college email address, which is about as much as I'd ever pay for an operating system without a new computer to go with it.

I was really thinking of switching to a Linux distro for a minute, but then there's that whole emulation process that I'd have to learn just to run Windows based programs, and I really don't want to be forced into something like that. I'll just run Linux on virtualbox for a while and learn with no pressure.

What about 3.11? That was pretty decent.

But since I can't say that I'll go with Vista. Haven't tried 7 yet, but Vista is a major improvement over XP. I've been running it a year and so far I've only had 2 crashes that I couldn't blame on myself. That's a lot more than can be said for my lappy with XP.

It's gotta be 98. Every game and every piece of softwear installed and worked perfectly. Compatibility issues with XP onwards killed PCs for me. None of my old games run! Needless to say I switched to mac.

Windows 2000. Never had a problem with it. I had it back when I was really into PC gaming and it served me well.

Vista really isn't bad if you don't fuck around with the core mechanics.

I've never had a crash on this PC (1.5 years old), the PC before it (same box, a couple of the same components) was awful, but that was because it got damaged in transit. BSOD and a wailing noise whenever it ran anything, but then I found out I'd burned a hole through the motherboard because a load of components got dislodged in the car, so it wasn't really Vista's fault.

The updated Service Packs/Drivers and so-forth made Vista a good, stable system. I prefer it to the XP OS's run at home and on the uni computers. They are so slow to boot up compared to my system, and the home computers struggle to run stuff at the same speeds.

Everyone always screams how much Vista sucks, but I have never experienced any problems with it. Nor have quite a few people I've talked to, and a couple of people judging by the poll. The whole "it sucks" strikes me very much as something someone heard on t'internet and is just repeating verbatim.

Windows 7 for me. Just takes most of the good ideas of the previous OS's and streamlines it further. Love the side by side window snap thing, I've been putting that to good use lately!

Every single person in my environment who has Vista has had numerous problems with it. Even the guy who fixes the computers says that Vista is a true pain in the ass and that they get complaints about it all the time.

Right now I'm enjoying 7, but I haven't been using it for very long.

I think overall XP was my most positive experience so far.

You've been able to do that (with a bit of fiddling with window sizing) since Win XP, and I'm fairly sure you could do it with Win 98. So don't patronize me.
