It is either The Simpsons (4-13) or South Park (1-12), legendary comedies I'll never forget. I also I really like Family Guy (1-5), Futurama (1-5) and Bugs Bunny.

As for anime: Full Metal Alchemist (not brotherhood or whatever), Hunter X Hunter and Naruto.

Over all though, I love the old animated films like Dumbo, Little Mermaid, South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules, All Dogs Go To Heaven, etc. Above all that though is Fantasia (1940), best animation ever!

In terms of recent stuff then Venture Bros and Archer. Both of those are very, very funny.

For nostalgia Transformers from the 80's and Looney Toons.

Otherwise Invader Zim or The Tick!

Spooon!

edit- I can't leave it at those there are so many others, both now and from my childhood.

Angry Beavers, Dexter's lab, all the staples of cartoon network etc back in the day.

Current cartoons, to narrow it down:
Diminuative Horses That I Am Entitled To.
That and The Amazing World of Gumball and Futurama. Can't wait till Futurama comes out on DVD, seeing as I have all the previous seasons and the specials...

From the list : Metalocalypse. It's about my favourite music genre.

Not included : The Maxx. It's about my favourite setting : confused hero in illusionary reality. :)

metalocolypse is awesome!

OT: Boondocks, hands down, it takes too many examples from my life and puts them into the funniest setting on a cartoon, what's not to love?

also there are so many classics...

i'll narrow it down to a few

scooby doo(whole collection dammit, even what's new scooby doo), justice league, bugs bunny

HASSAAANNN CHOPP!

love this shit...

Insektors (the UK dub) and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

I used to love Bucky O'Hare, Reeboot and Tailspin but I've not seen Tailspin or Reeboot in years and Bucky O'Hare definitely isn't as good now as it was when I was 9.

I'd like to vote for Adventure Time but I've only been able to get hold of one episode. It was pretty sweet but I want to see more before I go making my mind up.

I've seen MLP. All of it. It's not bad but it's not really compelling either.

MLP FIM right now.
In retospective: South Park, Simpsons, Family guy, Drawn Together or Futurama but those all are kind of getting old and/or bad and I can't really say which one would be my all time favourite.

MLP is my favorite cartoon, and Avatar is my favorite anime.

Look, people, you got to accept that Avatar is, in fact, and anime. Just because it's made in the US does not mean it can't be an anime. Anime is not region-specific, it's a drawing and animation style. Get it right.
Actually it's the Japanese word for cartoons.

So all these cartoons are animes.

If you happen to be from Japan. For westerners, all anime is cartoons. Which is a statement that tends to make weaboos get upset all over themselves.

OT: The Simpsons, I suppose. I also love the art direction in Samurai Jack. And there's this really strange thing I watched the other day called 'Backwater Gospel' which was excellent.

Let's see.
The Venture Bros are awesome.
Metalocalypse is epic, yet ridiculous.
But then, pandering more to my child side, my current favourite would have to be Adventure Time. Without a doubt.
"Thd fun will never end, it's Adventure TIME!'

1. Avatar: Last Airbender
2. Batman: Animated Series
3. Looney Tunes (original series)
4. Tom & Jerry (original series)

Watched the last two as a child (for the first time), the second as a high schooler, and the first as an adult with my own kids. All were great shows - not just great cartoons. I also have to give runner-up status to Rocky & Bullwinkle and Pink Panther for being so wonderfully subversive.
