Red. I didn't play that many, only played Red, Yellow, Blue and Silver, and Red was my favorite out of them.

Platinum because of the references to nerds and gays.

Also, the Pokemon and plot were good.
well, there have always been nerds in pokemon, but... remind me of the gay reference?
You might need Platinum because I haven't checked the other 2.

Go to that mall/department store in Veilstone city and go to the top floor. There you will see 2 men standing front to back as if in a short line in the middle of the room. The one in front gives you a quick claw. The one in back says "Two buff guys standing side by side. That's all. What? What's the problem?" Maybe I'm misinterpretting it, but considering their position compared to each other it doesn't seem likely.

I'd say Yellow, then Crystal, then Ruby then Heart Gold. Yellow because childhood nostalgia is awesome, Crystal because it hooked me on the series by introducing new interesting characters and Pokemon, Ruby because although it broke my heart (the stupid gap between 2nd gen and 3rd gen) I learned to appreciate the graphics and the cool region and Heart Gold because it brings back all the great experiences from Crystal AND has an elite four that isn't too easy.

Oh, and Pokemon FTW. I wasn't impressed by Diamond/Pearl. I really liked some of the music but most of the new Pokemon weren't up to the high standards set by 2nd gen.

Yeah, I caught that one. It made me chuckle a bit before moving on.

Emerald holds the fondest memories with me. It has the best music, being able to double-battle against two individual trainers and my Pokemon Dream Team.

Probably emerald, since it had my favorite map, and was just before the pokemon started looking like shit. It also introduced a lot of new features to the gameplay.

I would have to say Gold. In my own opinion, it just sort of peaked there. Red/Blue/Yellow were alright, but SEVERELY flawed in battle mechanics. Gold/Silver/Crystal fixed several parts of that, and was able to successfully continue from the original series. Ruby/Sapphire, while perfectly good on their own, just didn't really stand up to the Gold/Silver series (although I LOVED the Team Magma/Team Aqua interaction). Finally, Diamond/Pearl was just...average. It did nothing special, nothing new.

Well, I've said my piece. I'll just go and hide before the fanboys come and rip me to shreds.

It'd say I enjoyed Gold and Sapphire the best. I just wish Sapphire had the amount of space to explore compared to Gold, rather the resorting to the lame Sevii islands.
