Poll: What is your favourite type of sock?

It is a question that has plagued man since time immemorial: What type of sock is the best?
Long or short? Colourful or plain?

So what do you prefer?

Whichever is most suitable for the situation. If I'm out in the sun with my sandals, no socks. If it's summer and I'm in shorts, trainer socks. Winter, nice wooley socks. If I'm out hiking, a good pair of anti-blister socks and a thick pair of hiking socks. Christmas, novelty socks, so as not to offend whoever bought them for me. It's like a toolbox, you don't pick favourites, you just take whatever's best for the job.

What type of sock is the best?

As to taking my idea, I say thank you, I am too lazy to do this myself.

OT: In the summer, I like sandals. Marching band obligations, though, make me wear ankle socks through to the fall.
The winter spurs in regular socks that allows warmth to my little toes. I continue until late spring, when it warms up and brings back the sandals.
Rinse, wash, repeat.

Flip-flops in the summer, ankle-socks for the rest of the year. Although the really bright patterned ones are cute on girls.

When it's really cold though, the woolly knee socks come out. Thank you again, Grandma.

Mostly depends on the situation. On a regular sunny day, your regular boring grey and white socks will do me. But if I get snow, or it's particularly cold out, nothing beats a pair of thick wools socks.

I prefer thin, black woollen socks all year round. My socks only change when I'm hiking or playing rugby: for the former I prefer thick, anti-blistery socks, and for the latter I have knee-high sports socks.

Ankle socks all the way, I have no idea why they make socks so goddamn long.
No, I do not want socks up to my knees.
And ankle socks don't make your feet sweaty cause the are so goddamn hot

Black socks. I tend to wear dark coloured shoes, so wearing white socks looks patently ridiculous. Plus I have an excess of the black ones due to needing them for work anyway.

I'm a fan of thick socks whenever I can get away with wearing them, they fit well in boots and my feet get cold easily so they're a plus.
However, I must admit I am a lover and owner of all kinds of socks.

I spend a lot of time with my shoes off, so I like a pair of thick, white socks that go about a quarter of the way to the knee. Not too hot during the day, and cozy during the night.

Shin-high socks that cling to my feet well, as I HATE having a big wrinkle in my sock when I'm walking around.
The height thing is because I don't like a chance of the shoe touching my skin... It bugs me.
Colour doesn't really matter too much, but when given a choice I tend to use black.
Also I prefer no writing/pictures/thingies on it. Plain and simple.
