I liked the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead.
No offense to those of you who said Shaun of the Dead but that was a horrible movie... It was as funny as being repetitively smashed in the face by Rosie O'Donnel with a baseball bat. In that sure, youl laugh eventually, but only due to loss of brain cells.

I personally liked Diary of the Dead. It was shot differently than all the other choices, I think (think Blair Witch camera), and had a satisfactory ending. Well, it did for me, at least.

Shaun of the Dead has Pegg and Moran, but my vote still goes to 28 Days, even if they're more infected than zombie. I just really enjoyed that film. Second one went a bit down hill.

Planet Terror

and the infected in 28 Days/Weeks Later are NOT zombies
A) i have NEVER heard of Planet Terror

B) id you would be so kindly as to even read my post with the disclaimer of "If you argue that 28 series is "infected" not "zombies" then fuck you."

My favourite zombie films are Lucio Fulci's The Beyond [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_the_Living_Dead].

I like their Lovecraftian theme and zombies who are actually the dead brought back to life by occult reasons, like the gates of Hell opening.

David Cronenberg's Rabid [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabid] is my favourite 'infected' type zombie film.

Dead Set [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Set_(TV_series)] is my favourite light hearted, satirical zombie film. I know it was released as a series but I think it can be counted as a film.

Having to choose a popular zombie film from the list, I'd pick 28 Days Later. I think it's absolutely brilliant, but the reason it's not my favourite zombie film is that it's too close to home, a little bit too scary and I don't like to watch it very often (it's not as fun to watch as other, less believable zombie films set in America).

of those listed, the original classic Night of the Living Dead is my fave, but my actual fave is [Rec]. it's spanish and was remade as quarantine and is from the point of view of a tv news camera in a spanish appartment building that has been quarantined, it fucking rules

Shaun of the Dead

Actually, to be honest there should an option to vote for all of the above. As I have all of the films listed.

And no Evil Dead series? That is most disappointing. =(

Shaun of the Dead, it combines comedy with an homage to Romero and other zombie movies perfectly.
