I'm just curious about what you think about weapons. Do you carry any to protect yourself, and if so why? Do you refuse to carry anything because of some moral or religious taboo?

I don't know. I was watching a knife show and wondered what your stance is/was. Its late and I'm bored.

Mmm... weapons? I can't carry them around. In this day and age it's forbidden in most countries anyway.

Needs gunsword option.

Also the poll seems at odds with the questions asked in the OP. For the record I don't carry a weapon because I'm in Australia so no guns just carried around on you all the time and knives seem more likely to get me into trouble as I have no training/experience using them offensively.

Also I can't be bothered, the worst I've seen are brief fist fights and I doubt I'll see much worse.

You shouldn't stand on weapons, you could damage them. Oh, that's not what you meant.
I don't carry a weapon, mainly because I'm a whimp, and also I've never been in a situation or seen one where a weapon would come in handy.
If I had to choose one, I think a gun would be best if it comes to defending myself or my near&dear.

Gunblades r dum

Also the poll has nothing to do with the opening post.

Also in Denmark the state has a monopoly on the legal use of deadly force. I don't carry any and I don't need to, my country is quite safe. It'd also be difficult as the only legal use for a rifle is hunting and I am not a rich tosser yet.

They make complete and total sense to me. You stand in front of your enemy and draw your "sword" and go all "come at me bro" and he moves to engage you in melee and them BAM, you shoot him.

I own several weapons, but they rarely leave the house with me as I tend not to frequent the sorts of places where I might need a weapon to protect myself. But as the only person to have currently voted "other", I feel the need to point out that my weapon of choice is a spear.

I'm American, and if possible, I'd prefer to carry a concealed weapon, preferably a firearm.

I don't carry a weapon as they are illegal (New Zealand) and I don't every see myself needing one.

I like to collect weapons just out of interest and I do enjoy training in various types and styles. But on a day-to-day basis I don't carry anything, never felt the need to. If a dangerous situation arises I usually just get the hell out of there. And I'm confident enough in my hand-to-hand skills that worst comes to worst I feel fairly safe.

I like swords. Sure, guns are better killers, but to truly master a sword, one must dedicated oneself to the blade and what wielding that blade entails. Any dumbass can pick up a gun and fire off a few rounds, but few know the intricacies of steel to steel combat. And I can respect that.

Swords are my "favorite", though as has been mentioned earlier in the thread guns are more practical. Not that I can carry either around with me.

I'm fascinated by swords due to my interest in that period of history. I don't carry a weapon and never see myself doing so as I don't believe in violence under any circumstance.

This is just my personal feeling and one I've surprisingly always held even as a kid. Unlike many people growing up, I've never been in a fight. If all goes well, that wont ever change.

I like guns. A lot(NRA Life Member). I personally have 10 guns(4 rifles, 2, shotguns, and 4 pistols).

Despite my love of firearms I cannot carry one because of the laws in CA. I've been told it is easier to become a cop than it is to get a concealed carry permit(probably an exaggeration but I haven't looked into it seriously yet and I wouldn't carry until I had a ton of training). I carry a Leatherman Wave multitool and a Surefire 6PD flashlight. The Leatherman has a good knife and is weighty so I could use it like a roll of quarters in my fist. And my Surefire isn't the brightest, but it'll leave you seeing spots for a while even during the day.

edit: I also like swords and knives. I would like to carry a dedicated knife with me, but the knife laws are more complicated than the gun laws.

Well you'd best have an ample supply of ammunition then, I doubt you're going to get much accuracy when you've got that much weight along the barrel. You're not going to grip the underside of it to steady it thats for sure, and I doubt it'd be much use as a sword once you figure out you can't lift it with that grip.

Sabre and a concealed pistol ftw.
