I tend to pick something along the lines of paladins or at least warriors driven by some kind of zealotry. I'm a pretty moderate person, so it's entertaining and sometimes enlightening to enter that kind of mindset. I can sense sometimes a lot of confusion as to why I find that kind of character engaging, because I think a lot of media likes to attach the "crazy wingnut" stigma to this type. Alistair and all the other Templars, plus the Chantry, in DA:O come to mind.

Having good intentions with an inflexible mindset tends to create interesting situations in roleplaying, because it often brings up profound questions of morality that require thought. Of course, any well-played character can encourage thought and discussion, but there's just something I like about being a goody two-shoes white knight type. I'm not like that in real life at all, and in fact, those kind of people tend to annoy me more often than not, so it's interesting to think about why I like stepping into that role, even if it's just for fun.

In combat, Paladins are usually frustratingly durable and can bring the pain in their own special way. Unless you're talking about WoW. But they cocked the archetype up.
I got that one too, He pretty much will kill anything that doesn't worship his god, Which he thinks talks to him, not in the form of dreams, literally talks to him, and is right behind him.

I'm either full-contact warrior or I play a specialist mage from the rear, bombarding the enemy with crazy powerful magic. Usually I prefer mage though. :)

D&D 3.5: a Paladin and a Rogue
4.0: a Fighter
DH: an assassin and a psyker

I tend to run the gauntlet when it comes to classes, though my 3.5 Rogue I have been playing forever and dearly love that character, he is just so random in so many fun ways. My favorite time with him was when his group was sitting in a Wizard's tower discussing something or other (something to do with the main plot). Anyways, he got bored so he starting to tinker with his Rod of Wonder and activated a spell which shot out a very strong gust of air, since he wasn't braced or expecting it (and he is a small person) the force was enough to eject him out of a nearby window that was to his back and send him flying out of it. It was hilarious, the whole group just was flabbergasted and my character ended up flying like 50 feet until he hit the ground (though he negated all of the fall damage, super high Tumble ftw). We laugh about that still, after a year or two.

I like games where I can turn invisible and wait for oblivious enemies to walk close enough to be get insta-killed. Or where I can set them on fire from a massively unfair distance and laugh/throw peanuts at their faces while they slowly trudle in my direction slower than their health bar falls.

So I guess I like to roleplay as an asshole.

Hehe, "Aaaaggh! The fire! It's real! Get it off! Get it off! auugghh...." my favorite line in Bioshock. Repeated at a troubling frequency when I'm playing.

I'm usually the warrior, always going first and keeping my party safe by taking morningstars to the face.

Melee is always the main thing for me. Then magic, and then ranged attacks, in that order of importance.

GM class. Heh heh.

No, seriously. Whenever I try to play I end up dying horrifically and usually soon after starting. I just suck at actually playing the game. BUT - I'm a pretty decent GM if I do say myself, which I am obviously doing presently.

I've been playing either a paladin or Cleric since 1989 in D&D so any game I play that has either of those two choices, thats where I gravitate towards

Depends heavily on character and weapon designs, but usually the Rogue if he is capable of wearing swords (Don't like daggers), or the Warrior, if the Rogues can't use swords. I usually like highly mobile characters that have slow yet strong attacks for great hit and run tactics, or characters that attack fast and wide for great crowd control. (think Dual Katana in Demon's Souls)

Usually a spellcaster, because I love shooting lightning and freezing people, or the rogue/thief, because I love being a shadowy backstabbing dirtbag.

I like casters that can do some melee, like an Adept in ME, or I suppose a Paladin/Shammy in WoW.

I usually create a type of battlemage class. I like having some armor and physical attacks, but I also enjoy spell casting.
