Poll: What kind of element would you bend?

air bending can make lungs explode, water bending can make people explode, why don't they use that. And why is only a sky avatar so cool in avatar trans, with the glowing tattoo's and such, other nation avatar just have glowing eyes.

I'm trying to give reasons why they wouldn't based on the elements of the Avatar universe given to us through the cartoon. I realize its a cartoon. It would make sense that a sect of pacifist monks wouldn't be going around exploding peoples lungs. Its also understandable that water benders, who've practiced the same forms for centuries (North Pole) would likely not even consider blowing people up via their bodily liquids. Think of how shocked they were when the party found out that guy was controlling the plants. They never even thought of controlling the water inside things. Not to mention the repulsion they had toward blood bending when they discovered it. You can always just say, because its a kid show. I like to reason out why, even if it wasn't a kid show, they wouldn't do these things.

Fire benders would still roast your lungs, btw. Kid show or no.

I've never seen anyone bend spit or anything, but then again I don't think they have ever tried on the show XD

It could be like in Dead Rising, when you drink the Blue Shake and your spit becomes like a speeding bullet!

Earth->Metal
Simply because almost everything has some amounts of metal in it.
And half of the real elements are metals.
E.g.: Magneto's escape from his cell in X-Men.
If it is only FORGED metal. then I would go with water.

The magneto thing only really worked cause the guy had a large amount of iron injected into him. As for the forged metal, the show explains it by you bending the impurities in the metal (the earth in it) so you should be able to bend forged and unforged unless it had no impurities (thouhg i dont know how that works)

I understand, you want to look at it as a different universe not as a kids show.

You can't burn down a town with water, your argument is invalid.

True, but there are multiple ways of bringing down a town. A nice big wave would do the trick. Or hell, why destroy the town? Just blood-bend all of the people, and take the town over.

I'd love to bend earth/metal to my advantage. that, and flinging trees and I-beams at people at will help a lot.

I would bend fire because I don't know if you noticed, but Water benders need water, earth benders need earth, air benders need air, but fire benders seem to be able to conjure flames out of nowhere.
