I voted Hoarder of Things, but I'm probably a combination of that and Speedster. I still have almost every game I've ever owned, with the only ones I've ever sold being some crappy NES sports games that were given to me with a bunch of other games, and a very few other games that have left me for different reasons -- the majority of those being lost when I lost a backpack that contained my Gameboy Advance SP2 (the grey one, and luckily enough without the D-pad problem, I might add), most of my Gameboy Color games, most of my Game-Gear games, and all of my Gameboy advance games. Sad day, that one.

Back on topic, I also fit the Speedster category because I rarely finish the games I buy. I buy almost everything used, and there has been one game in my entire life that I got within a month or two of launch -- and that one was a small release from a small developer, which I knew I would never find used. As a result, I tend to buy lots of games at prices similar to rentals, which leads to me not feeling guilty at not finishing them. It's also why I wouldn't consider myself a member of the Game Connoisseur category; I rarely plan purchases, instead finding little gems in the $10 and under bin. I have few true lemons in my collection, but neither am I innocent of picking up something cheap because the box looks interesting.

A mix of a Genre Shut-In and a Connoisseur. I do have ability to instantly know weather I will like a game or not, but I rarely go outside my genres.

I more of a Hoarder.
Iv very rarely traded or sold games.
And when i have its mostly so i can afford more games.
I can only think of one i sold just because i hated it.

Im also a bit of a Connoisseur.
To save money i try and make sure the game i want to get is one that i will like.

Def a wasteland trader.

I get a lot of my games the summer after they come out after they've price dropped a bit. So the games I play are usually old news. I get a few titles here and there when they're new, but they're either games that my friends don't play, or we purposely never talk about them for fear of spoilers.

Great thread. I'm a Game Connoisseur, and it's nice to see people actually pondering over games they want to buy rather then throwing their money away on hype, etc.
Thanks, I definitely leave room for people to choose their own type of spender but it does seem that Escapist members are a bit better at spending their money.

Somewhere between a Window Shopper and a Genre Shut-In, I guess. Sometimes I wish I played on a console, just so I could trade back games and all. It would probably make life a lot easier. I've never purchased a game that I didn't like, though. I have friends who own a lot of games, so I try it at their place and then buy it myself, if I like it. I can't really afford to buy anything and everything.

Well I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur.

Infinite Budget Wonder? I can buy everything, but I'm more picky than that. Still I got tons of unfinished games.

Speedster? I'm a tourist, but I'm not finished in 10 hours either. I don't rent, I keep and I only occasionally trade games for other games.

Hoarder of Things, I guess.

I tend to hoard games, but I haven't bought anything for a while, so I would say somewhere in between a hoarder and a window shopper.

It's true. As opposed to, lets say, Gamespot where I've noticed many members commenting "I'm getting this!" on various new releases.
Made me feel poor, but this thread cheered me up, as most people here think before buying.

A cheap one. I just buy games that i have already played or that i know are classics. I just buy PS2 games (Preferably horror games) and Silent Hill Games on any plataform. Thinking of buying SEGA genesis, NES and SNES games.

Haha, same. I feel like both Hoarder of Things and Game Connoisseur apply but not quite to the extent that they would apply to others. I also feel the Genre shut in can apply. But my forays are a little more often than the description implies.

I seem to know whether I'll like a game instantly. It's almost as if I don't think about it (although I'm sure I do.)

I also buy games that I'm unlikely to play, sometimes to replace them if I lose a game I've beaten, sometimes in case I can't find the game again.

I don't really play much other than RPG's, certainly not on a regular basis. Although I do play shooters from time to time and racing games can be fun every now and then.

I'm a mix of hoarder and connoisseur. I know what games are good and which I will like. I appreciate games, both old and new, and buy more than I should. If I see a game I think I will like, I buy it. I don't consider replay value or worry that it won't last for years to come. I know I will enjoy it now so I buy it.
