What, no Vanguard or Infiltrator? Infiltrator was my favorite class, but Soldier is a very close second. I just love me some assault rifle action...the fact that any class can use any gun in ME3 makes me smile. I can finally be an adept using an assault rifle and sniper rifle! I call that a win.

Vanguard is definitely my class of choice, Biotic charge is awesome and I love the new SMG added in ME2. So you have a Adapts Biotics and a Soldiers Firepower...

Definitely Sentinel; the blend of biotic and tech powers made for alot of fun gameplay. Also, the uber-tough armour that knocked enemies flat on their arses upon depletion was a nice touch.

The vanguard's biotic charge was a fantastic ability that made combat even more exciting. The first time I used it my jaw actually dropped it was so cool. Zipping around the battlefield, sending opponents into the air in bullet-time and the up-close and personal shotgun action is an unbeatable combination. SPOILER ALERT: (After Jack gets free on her recruitment mission, the map is incredible fun as a vanguard. Multiple levels, cover and obstacles to charge through and duck behind). END SPOILER.

The main trouble with ME2 was the shared cooldown of abilities. It rendered many adept abilities (for example) a little worthless as there's simply no point or benefit to having two crowd control abilities, two damage abilities, etc as you can only ever use one at a given time. Also, because enemies with protection could resist biotic effects the added shields/armour at hardcore and above difficulties made most biotic abilities (including charge and the bonus ones unlocked from followers) much less useful and made the vanguard and adept (and presumably sentinel) substantially more difficult to play (out of line with the obvious difficulty level increase), adept even more so than the others.

Had a go on Infiltrator but gave up during Thane's recruitment mission. The cloak is alright, but nothing else works/recharges while it's on so it's not so great as a defensive tool, and playing whack-a-mole got old after a while. There's only so much uncloak->Sniper scope->headshot one can handle. Very much a one-trick pony.

Sentinel's superlative shielding and engineer's drones just don't sound like much fun and soldier, whilst undoubtedly powerful, can't do much more than shoot stuff.

Sentiel
You've got Overload to strip shields and Warp for everything else. The cherry on top is you've also got Tech Armor which potentially doubles your shield strength and gives you an awesome close-range retaliatory strike that stuns anyone foolish enough to drop your shieds.
Throw in Warp Ammo (bonus against anything) or Reave (stun + health siphon + bonus damage) and then once you've got the Locust you can wipe the floor with anyone less than a Praetorian or Harbinger Drone.

Now, if the Vanguard could only use their charge to withdraw when mobbed, or the Infiltrator could chain their cloak, then you'd have a real competition for all-purpose ass-kicking fun.

Funnily enough, I enjoyed playing as a Soldier; the adrenaline ability was rather nice, and I always preferred mid-range assault rifle usage to short range shotguns/smgs, while a Soldier is also pretty decent with a sniper rifle for long range stuff. My favourite team was Shepard as a Soldier, Garrus and Zaeed.

Having said that, my Infiltrator run was quite good fun too.

Well, to be honest, you played as what I consider to be the only two fun classes.

If you want to break the game, play Sentinel. Free layer of armor with no time limit, access to both Warp AND Overload to destroy any type of health in the game. Pretty much broken there.

The only decent "pure" class is the soldier. Adept and Engineer were nerfed to hell because of the group cooldown (unfortunate, since adept was my favorite in ME1). Seriously, it's no fun using one power and then impotently shooting your dinky pistol.

Well, that's about it.

Honestly if you haven't played the sentinel, DO IT!

I have played the infiltrator, vanguard, adept, and the sentinel. Adept in ME2 is only fun if you play on low difficulty settings tbh. I played it on insane as my first play-through and was tearing my hair out. The rest were awesome.

If you like guns go soldier, if you like powers go engineer. Other two are kinda just gun/power combos.

I could tell you exactly why your crew got liquified and how to prevent it if you want to know.

Soldier class was really boring in ME2...it is the only game in recent memory that this archtype was poorly done compared to the alternatives in my opinion.

I've enjoy all other class types though.

I don't like the fact that a lot of people just play through as soldier every time. It is fun, and the revenant is glorious, but every other class is a lot more unique. Biotics are amazing.

The ME2 Vanguard was an absolute monster. Loved it. Amazingly fun to play, especially with improved flashbang grenades. Interesting change from how it played in ME1 (which is to say, kind of hardmode until you get Stasis Spec, at which point you are unto a man made god).

If you're looking for a big change from a vanguard and infiltrator run, I'd say go full Adept OP. Pick up assault rifle training and either Stasis or Warp Ammo for your advanced training. It's an interesting change of pace from most of the other classes.

I really enjoyed the ability to pull off numerous biotic combos with a Sentinel. Just get some squadmates with Lift and spam your Area Warp, stuff explodes.

My preferred method of gameplay is to be a bullet sponge, so soldier is my preference. That said, the Infiltrator's tactical cloak was a fun way to mix things up on my second playthrough.

From doing a mission inbetween the FLL(Whatever) reaper and the final mission right? The only mission I did was Legion's loyalty mission though...so how can I prevent that?
