So I've been interested in this girl from my college for a while right, and I finally ended up asking her if she wanted to go out some time, she said yes and agreed on Monday night as the date (I'm pretty sure it's apparent that this is a date.... at least I hope anyway lol). I'm trying to decide what exactly to do for the date; dinner and a movie sort of seems like the standard, except all the movies out right now seem sort of.....lousy. Please recommend a movie, or an alternate date plan, thank you ^_^

BTW I've had girlfriends before, I'm just sort of bad at taking them out : \

Oh cheap shot capcha! you haven't even seen it!
What is she like? We can't choose a movie, if we don't know anything about the girl.

I'd go with Frankenweenie if you both can stand the 3D (I can't, gives me a headache, even the 'good' 3D). I saw the original short and it is pretty cute - and cute is generally the safe way to go with date movies.

Looper was pretty awesome, but I'm not sure it's good 'date movie' material, unless she really likes time travel sci-fi. Or Bruce Willis. Mmmmmm.....

Argo I haven't seen yet, but it sounds a little... military for a date movie. Again, unless she's into that.

Taken 2 sounds awful, and I don't know much/anything about Seven Psychopaths or Sinister.

... so yeah, those are my thoughts on the matter as a woman. Hope that helps. **shrug**

This week's movies?

Lousy?

Dude, this is the best week we've had in MONTHS. Argo is acclaimed, Seven Psychopaths is apparently hilarious, Sinister is apparently actually scary...

OT: Ask her.

Seriously.

Do it.

Dredd, bitches love Dredd...

Well I did anyway. Maybe I'm not like her... Off the list? Well Argo sounds fun I guess X3. Sinister trailer was pretty damn creepy, I'm not sure I even want to see that one...

...Ask?

I dunno, we don't do the whole 'date' thing as much in England so I'm not sure if it's some faux pas to not stand atop of a seaside boulder, waves crashing behind you and shout at the elements "Tonight, I shall see Taken 2 and any worthy woman may accompany me!" like a strong decisive man and all.

After watching some reviews and reading a few synopses (synopsie?), I realize that some of them actually seem pretty damn good...... They sounded a little generic to me at first.

Not very many good options, but I'll try my best...
Looper is a good choice. After it's over, you will have something to talk about, which could segway into other things.
Pitch perfect or Seven Psychopaths are also good options. She'll be in a good mood after laughing for awhile which will cause her to look back on the date positively.
Don't try dramas like Argo or The Master. A bit too serious. A date should be fun!
Just pick a movie that you think she will like based on her personality.
In short, the general rule is don't pick any movie whose lead male actor is more attractive than you.

It's already past, we ended up postponing the date because she's bogged down with homework.

What is she interested in? Why are you interested in her? Do you have any common ground?

There is no 'girl' movie. Just like girls can't assume you'd automatically be into sports or metal or star trek.

Seems like that should have been the obvious thing to do lol...... Knowing her she'll probably pick frankenweenie x D
Well from what I've heard it's pretty harmless (being an Adam Sandler movie) so it seems like a good idea for a first date. Probably save Seven Psychopaths for next week. Argo is nice but emotionally is more for couples that are in a committed relationship (i.e. once you've started sleeping together).
Frankenweenie is an Adam Sandler movie?
Probably has it confused with Hotel Transelvania. I actually saw an early screening of Transelvania at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, because it was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. (The 'physical' humor is great. Very cartoon-like for something rendered in 3D. Think Dexter's lab. I want to believe this is Genndy selling his soul so he can eventually make a conclusion to Samurai Jack.) Adam Sandler's dracula is probably the least awful role I've seen him in. Some of the plot points are hokey, and Selena Gomez' character is kind of ignored for riffs between Sandler and Andy Samburg, but the film ranges from tolerable to genuinely funny and endearing.

Frankenweenie is a Tim Burton thing. Aside from the monsters, totally different.

...

On a completely unrelated note: I've heard really good things about Looper.

I hate taking dates to movies.

On topic: Black Swan, I did that once.

Romantic/Comedy I find works best for girls or gay guys....errr, well it works on me dammit. For your average meathead male date, take your man to a gun movie, hooraaaahh right?
