I don't buy games new most of the time now. They are so expensive especially when combined with DLC that it isn't worth it for me most of the time, I have also gotten a lot more selective in what I buy.

A few years ago I would have bought a game on release just for looking fun but now im sick of all the same crap everyone tries to copy and I don't buy as much, I spend most of my game money on either older games that have been out for a while and are a more reasonable price or on free games such as LoL just to buy skins and nothing else.(Yes believe it or not LoL is not Pay to win like some people claim)

Yeah I consider skins for LoL to be more worthy of my money than a lot of the AAA games that come out these days with some exceptions.

I bought the Darkness 2 on release day because I was a fan of the series, I would have bought Prototype 2 on release day but chose Darkness 2 instead so I had to wait a bit for it. I will be buying Metro: Last light on release day for the full price too as I enjoy these games and don't feel ripped off by buying them at full price.

Maybe 2. This year, it was MLB 12 and Borderlands 2. Next year, it'll be MLB 13 and probably one more.

If I know a game's coming down the pipe well in advance and I want to play it asap I'll pay the $60. A lot of AAA titles however are underwhelming and I'll wait until reviews are up and they cut the price or there's a steam weekend deal. Combine this with the indy games I pick up and it's probably 50/50, just because I don't buy a ton of games. I've only purchased BL2 for $60 thus far in 2012. I'll probably grab Dishonored and Far Cry 3 on release though.

Last game I bought for 60$ was Diablo 3, I regret that soo much. I got screwed so hard, with Diablo 3. I won't buy another 60$ game for a long long time. Everything else will be steam sale.

Percentage? Probably around zero.

Since July, I bought 29 games, which cost me about ?90 total. Steam sales and indie games, yo. Paying $60 for one game? Are you mad?!

I don't buy games at £40-45 ($60) anymore because it's too expensive for me and I usually end up disappointed. That doesn't mean I buy only old games though. If a game is under £40 on release I'll happily buy it sometime during release week. As an example I pre ordered Borderlands 2 on Steam for £30, but if it was £35-£45 then I would have waited for a sale.

I don't buy $60 games as I use real money :p

Seriously a lot less than I use too, last year only Saints Row and this year only Mass Effect though I'll be preordering X-com next Friday.

If I'm really, unforgivably, hyped up about the game. Which happens more than I'd like. For example, just this year...!

The Darkness II
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Prototype 2
Diablo 3 (Collector's Edition. White box and everything!)
Dragon's Dogma
Lollipop Chainsaw
Record of Agarest War 2 (WHICH I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED PLAYING!)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Project Diva F (Import. Cost me over $100)
Persona 4 Arena
Borderlands 2
Torchlight 2
Dishonored (Preordered)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Preordered)
Persona 4: Golden (Preordered)
Hitman: Absolution (Preordered)
Far Cry 3 (Preordered)

I spend too much on games... mind you, that's just the NEW ones I've bought, not counting all the other games I bought during the Steam Sale. (That was over $1000. I was SHOCKED when my bill came in...)

I think the problem is, that you're either working full time and don't have the free time to play games, or you're not and you don't have the money to buy em new at full price.

The only full price purchase I've made this year was the WOW expansion, so I don't get left behind. (smart marketing that, you either buy or be left out!)

About 30% of all the games I purchase are at full price and the rest I purchase at a lower price or used. The reason being that I'm a gamer who enjoys/is interested in multiple titles from different genres and from multiple consoles and handhelds. So when a slew of new titles will conveniently release around the same time, I would just purchase the ones that I'm more interested in playing and get the others at a later time.

I wish that I had more money and time to make day one purchases for all the games that I am interested in playing, complete them and move on to another game, but it's just not in the cards right now.

Very rarely do I buy a game new and at full price, though I have done so three times recently over the past year (Skyrim, Witcher 2, Risen 2) which is a hell of a lot for me. Most games I buy, at least 85% are older games. The reason for this, is I simply have a very, very small and limited interest when it comes to video games. There will probably be two or maybe three games a year that interest me, and most older games I can get for $10.00 - $20.00 or so, so fortunately gaming isn't too expensive for me :D

...quite a few now that I think about it.
Well, it's mainly new £30 games. Yay PC. I generally wait for anything else to go on sale on steam, or wait for the console stuff to go down in price, £40 for something I might not end up liking is a bit much, unless I'm feeling risky.

What do you mean by older titles? I would say that (literally) a month after Mass Effect 3 came out, Amazon had it for half price. Less than £20. I will probably get Skyrim once its gone Platinum and they re-release it with all the DLC. Only games I am likely to pay full price for are South Park and GTA5.

I definitely buy more older games than brand new ones, since a) I have to be really damn excited about a new game to pay top dollar for it, and not very many recent releases have been doing that to me; b) there are so many more old titles out there that I haven't played yet and are worthier of my time and money. Looking at only the video games just coming out is incredibly limiting. You're cheating yourself out of a lot of potential enjoyment if you do that, really.

The last brand-new, $60 title I bought was Skyrim and boy, did that turn out to be a disappointment in the long run. Not to say it wasn't a blast at first, but there wasn't anything to do after I completed all the main quest lines, which is a very bad trait for an Elder Scrolls game to have. I can't honestly say if it was worth it or not; I did put over 150 hours into the game before I got bored, but a good quarter of that time at least was wasted on dull treks over the snowy landscape since I feel like it's cheating in a way to fast-travel. I've also invested in the Ratchet and Clank Collection since then, but that doesn't really count since I've played them all before, they're remastered games and it cost me $30. A great deal for three games I play the ever-loving shit out of. In fact I've already beaten the first R&C three times and I'm just starting Going Commando.

Funnily enough, I decided against asking for Assassin's Creed III which comes out right on my birthday and am instead opting for the Final Fantasy Anthology and, if I'm lucky, Radiant Historia. Mmmmmmmm, just thinking of all the yummy turn-based combat makes my mouth water.

Well, I do buy brand new stuff, but only if it's $50 or less--and generally speaking, I only shell out the $50 if the package includes some extras along with the main game (e.g. Darksiders II preorder, Space Marine preorder bundle with Darksiders, etc.) $60 is right out--I always wait for the price to drop before I get the game.
