I'm just waiting to see if it goes on sale on Green Man Gaming (or any other trustworthy website) before I preorder, otherwise I will buy it on release on Steam
Green man gaming has a deal right now where if you preorder the game they give you $10 cash back (so essentially you get to preorder the game for $40 rather than $50 and get all the preorder bonuses).

Personally I would totally take advantage of the offer, but I really have my doubts about whether From Software can actually release a competent PC port after the fiasco that was Dark Souls 1. I'll be waiting until the actual release to find out how many bugs there are, and how long it takes them to get the port into a playable state.

I'm getting it on PS3. I played both previous games on PS3, so I think might help with muscle memory.

I have to ask, why are so many people saying PC? Wasn't the PC port terrible last time? I've not read anything about Dark Souls 2 (I will have no idea what I'm getting myself into, just the way I want it), so is there something that may make me want to change my mind and get it for PC instead?

I will play it on my PC. Honestly, I don't know how it will run on my PC, but that's why there are the graphics settings which should be in the game this time around. I could run DaS1 normally and with the unofficial patch with some improved graphics, so I think I should be able to run DaS2 without any problems. Even with lower graphics settings it should look and run better than the console version of the game.

But I have to say I'm really disappointed by the huge delay between the console and PC version release dates. Almost 2 months is just too much. The console peasants (joking) will spoil everything, secrets and walkthroughs will be out, it will ruin the whole fun of the first few weeks. DaS 1 was incredibly fun to play during the first week because pretty much no one knew anything about the world, the challenges and invasions where extremely fun. Similar when the game goes on sales on Steam and lots of new people come but not of the same proportions.

I already am avoiding most DaS threads because of spoiler. From tomorrow on, I will be avoiding pretty much every DaS thread I see. Feels bad.

And I have to say that the game would probably work great on the WiiU with the gamepad. The screen could be used for equipment changes on the fly and/or maybe some custom messages or drawings that can be left around the world. Playing it on the toilet or while lying in bed would be great as well.
Too bad it's not happening. T_T

I'm going PC just because I can't be arsed to have a console taking up time and space around the house, as it would either occupy my PC or the living room TV.
Literally the only reason I still put up with my PS3 at the moment is in case I want to play some PS2 HD remakes.
And on PC, I don't have to buy a new console(or find, setup and load a gorillion patches on my old console) when I want to replay it eventually.
And the port wasn't "bad" per se, it was just the console version with less lag. Bad for a PC game, but still better than the console version. (Have it on PS3 and PC btw)

Gamepad is a must, though.

PC. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other version, especially if they keep their promises regarding the quality.

It should be fine since the framerate on the consoles is at 60, which means the game should be less demanding than its predecessor. You can actually see some of that in the texture-work and how much stuff is actually rendered on-screen (at least that's what I'm assuming was one of the main problems in DaS 1, since pretty much everything you saw was actually a physical location and took up memory). There's also the whole optimization business. Essentially, skyboxes are overpowered.

This is from just stuff that I've seen anyhow. I might be wrong. It'll also undoubtedly look better on PC, just because, well.

PC.

depends. I have yet to finish both Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls so it largely depends on whether: A> the PC port is any good and B> what the prices of the PC and the PS3 versions are by the time I finish the first two games.

PC port was a carbon copy, without the improvements PC gamers are accustomed with. It was fine - its just that PC gamers can be a bit of spoiled brats sometimes. It is where PC's true advantage shone bright - some guy instantly cooked up patch to improve the look of the game significantly.
So, in the end of the day, of all versions of Dark Souls released to date- PC was the best one by far.

PS3 for me. Even if it released same day, for multiplats I still prefer my controller and my gaming recliner in most cases. No master race membership for me.

I'll be waiting for the game to come out on PC, according to STEAM that's over a month away though so I'll be late to the party this time. A little disappointed.

I haven't followed the development too much, but I am hoping for a better, more continuously usable, magic system. That probably won't happen though since they limit magic the way they do for a reason. It's just that I like playing mages and wizards, and one of my big problems with the entire series is that it seems very warrior-centric. Demon's Souls was a little more mage friendly (if you played as a Royal), Dark Souls was a step back since magic was a very limited resource (my Pyromancer seemed to do more with his axe, especially early on, than he did with his fireballs, I had to save them for special occasions), and I imagine "2" will probably continue the trend of making things even "worse". I suppose in the end I don't mind terribly, but I do find it semi-annoying. I would like to be able to play and beat an entire "souls" game without having to swing a weapon. :)

If a cross-platform game is available on pc, that's what I always get it for. Modding and cheating (only in single player, mind you), plus graphics and keyboard/mouse control are all worth waiting longer for ports or putting up with non-intrusive drm.

Steam sales don't hurt, either. Honestly, I still haven't played the first Dark Souls, but it and the sequel are on my list to get.

PC. My machine fits the specs and by the looks of things, they didn't balls up the port like last time. Only a question of whether I get it one release or when it goes on sale.

Supposedly the second game allows for many playstyles to all function without the utter necessity to resorting to cookie-cutter tactics; especially when applied to magic. This is me repeating someone from teh tube of you, but it's promising if anything else. Can't disagree though, although there's a concern for the agility stat to just be way too good from what I've seen of it.
