Green man gaming has a deal right now where if you preorder the game they give you $10 cash back (so essentially you get to preorder the game for $40 rather than $50 and get all the preorder bonuses).Wasted said:I'm just waiting to see if it goes on sale on Green Man Gaming (or any other trustworthy website) before I preorder, otherwise I will buy it on release on Steam
I'm going PC just because I can't be arsed to have a console taking up time and space around the house, as it would either occupy my PC or the living room TV.Bobular said:I have to ask, why are so many people saying PC? Wasn't the PC port terrible last time? I've not read anything about Dark Souls 2 (I will have no idea what I'm getting myself into, just the way I want it), so is there something that may make me want to change my mind and get it for PC instead?
It should be fine since the framerate on the consoles is at 60, which means the game should be less demanding than its predecessor. You can actually see some of that in the texture-work and how much stuff is actually rendered on-screen (at least that's what I'm assuming was one of the main problems in DaS 1, since pretty much everything you saw was actually a physical location and took up memory). There's also the whole optimization business. Essentially, skyboxes are overpowered.BiH-Kira said:I will play it on my PC. Honestly, I don't know how it will run on my PC, but that's why there are the graphics settings which should be in the game this time around. I could run DaS1 normally and with the unofficial patch with some improved graphics, so I think I should be able to run DaS2 without any problems. Even with lower graphics settings it should look and run better than the console version of the game.
PC port was a carbon copy, without the improvements PC gamers are accustomed with. It was fine - its just that PC gamers can be a bit of spoiled brats sometimes. It is where PC's true advantage shone bright - some guy instantly cooked up patch to improve the look of the game significantly.Bobular said:I'm getting it on PS3. I played both previous games on PS3, so I think might help with muscle memory.

Supposedly the second game allows for many playstyles to all function without the utter necessity to resorting to cookie-cutter tactics; especially when applied to magic. This is me repeating someone from teh tube of you, but it's promising if anything else. Can't disagree though, although there's a concern for the agility stat to just be way too good from what I've seen of it.Therumancer said:I'll be waiting for the game to come out on PC, according to STEAM that's over a month away though so I'll be late to the party this time. A little disappointed.
I haven't followed the development too much, but I am hoping for a better, more continuously usable, magic system. That probably won't happen though since they limit magic the way they do for a reason. It's just that I like playing mages and wizards, and one of my big problems with the entire series is that it seems very warrior-centric. Demon's Souls was a little more mage friendly (if you played as a Royal), Dark Souls was a step back since magic was a very limited resource (my Pyromancer seemed to do more with his axe, especially early on, than he did with his fireballs, I had to save them for special occasions), and I imagine "2" will probably continue the trend of making things even "worse". I suppose in the end I don't mind terribly, but I do find it semi-annoying. I would like to be able to play and beat an entire "souls" game without having to swing a weapon.![]()
